Anti-India Sentiment in Bangladesh Escalates: Bus Attack in Brahmanbaria
Amidst rising anti-India and anti-Hindu sentiments in Bangladesh, an attack on an Indian bus traveling from Agartala to Kolkata has stirred anger and condemnation. The incident highlights the growing hostility faced by Indians and Hindus in the neighboring country, raising concerns about their safety.
The Attack: A Deliberate Target
On December 1, a Shyamoli Paribahan bus carrying Indian passengers was hit by a truck from behind in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria district, causing it to crash into an auto-rickshaw. As per reports, the collision appeared intentional. Following the crash, locals surrounded the bus, raised anti-India slogans, and issued death threats to the passengers.
Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed that the attack was premeditated. In a social media post, he stated, “The Indian passengers in the bus were terrified by this incident, as the bus was passing through a stretch on Bishwa Road. Suddenly, a truck carrying goods deliberately hit the bus to cause an accident. At the same time, an auto on the road came in front of the bus, resulting in a collision with the Shyamoli bus. Following this incident, local people continued to threaten the Indian passengers in the bus. In their presence, they shouted various anti-India slogans and made harsh comments, even threatening to kill the passengers. The Indian passengers in the bus were terrified by this incident,”
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha strongly condemned the attack, reminding Bangladesh of India’s pivotal role during its liberation war. He called for immediate action to ensure the safety of Indian travelers.
The Growing Shadow of Islamization in Bangladesh
This incident is not isolated. It reflects a worrying pattern of increasing hostility toward Hindus and Indians in Bangladesh. Recently, three Hindu monks who aided flood victims were arrested in what many see as a targeted persecution. This incident follows a series of violent acts against Hindus, including attacks on temples and homes.
