Islamist in Kashmir Threaten to Burn Down Hindu Temples

Mushtaq Lone, a self-proclaimed Islamist, recently vowed to burn down temples in Kashmir, showcasing the deep-rooted intolerance in the region. His hatred, driven by religious differences, echoes a recurring pattern of Islamist hostility towards Hindus in Kashmir.

The Interview That Revealed His Intentions

During a recent interview with journalist Archana Tiwari in Dardpora, Kashmir, Mushtaq Lone made his views clear. He expressed that Islamists in the area have a problem with Hindu temples.

Mushtaq claimed he is a supporter of Sheikh Abdul Rashid popularly known as Engineer Rashid who was arrested on terror-funding charges and later secured interim bail.

He expressed “We are Muslims and we read namaz. Opening the temple is not right. Humein Puja Path se problem hota hai. (We have issues with Hindu rituals and worship).” This sentiment is not new.

When the startled journalist stated that she didn’t have a problem with loudspeakers in the mosque, he reiterated that as he is Muslim he has a problem with temples.

He went further, threatening any Hindu working in the region. “We won’t allow a temple here. If it’s built, we’ll burn it down,” Mushtaq declared, reiterating that his Muslim identity justified such actions.

He also declared, “Any Hindu who comes here for work and then indulges in alcohol consumption will be assaulted by us. Alcohol is against our religion.”

Islamist Hatred Goes Beyond Borders

This type of deep-rooted hatred isn’t confined to Kashmir. In neighboring Bangladesh, Islamists have protested against Durga Puja, a significant Hindu festival. They argued that performing puja on Eid prayer grounds would desecrate them and make them Unholy.

This demonstrates the deep-rooted intolerance present in both Kashmir and Bangladesh, highlighting that wherever Islamists are, their hatred persists.

A Warning for Hindus: Recognize the Threat and Protect Yourself

This escalating hostility serves as a stark warning to Hindus, not just in Kashmir but across regions where Islamist sentiment festers. The time for passive observation is long gone. Hindus must recognize that appeasement, silence, and relying on political systems to address the issue won’t stop this growing threat.

The reality is that the hatred runs deeper than mere political or social disagreements—it stems from centuries-old ideology, and it won’t be solved with mere dialogue or compromise.

So, what can Hindus do to protect themselves?

  1. Strengthen the Community: Hindus must build solidarity within their communities. When united, it becomes harder for external threats to intimidate or break them apart. Cultural and religious gatherings, such as pujas and festivals, should be used to build resilience and foster collective pride in their identity.
  2. Self-Defense and Vigilance: While peace and tolerance have been cornerstones of Hindu philosophy, the reality of the world today requires that Hindus be prepared to defend themselves. This doesn’t mean seeking violence but being vigilant and, when necessary, engaging in self-defense to protect their homes, temples, and loved ones.
  3. Raise Awareness: Hindus need to ensure their voices are heard globally. Every act of aggression, intolerance, or violence should be documented, shared, and reported. Silence only emboldens those who wish harm, while awareness can rally support and pressure authorities to act.
  4. Political Engagement: Hindus must demand more from their political representatives. Governments and authorities should take stronger action against individuals or groups openly threatening violence. Political disengagement only leads to further marginalization. It’s time Hindus make their presence felt in the political sphere, ensuring that their concerns are addressed at the highest levels.
  5. Educate the Youth: It is vital that younger generations are educated about their cultural heritage and the current challenges faced by their community. A well-informed and empowered youth is the best defense against external threats.
  6. Support Organizations Defending Hindu Rights: Hindus should support organizations working to protect their rights. Whether through donations, activism, or volunteering, such organizations provide the backbone for defending against anti-Hindu sentiment.

In Summary

Hindus must open their eyes to the realities of the world. Ignoring these threats won’t make them disappear. The hatred from radical Islamists towards non-Muslims is not something that will fade with time or goodwill gestures. The responsibility to protect Dharma rests on the shoulders of Hindus themselves. By uniting, staying vigilant, and asserting their rights, Hindus can ensure their safety and the survival of their culture.

Waiting for someone else to protect Dharma is a dangerous gamble—Hindus must take charge of their destiny, for their future generations depend on it.
