West Bengal and its Hindu heritage are under “peaceful” siege. Hindu festivals are targeted, idols are desecrated, and sacred traditions are violently disrupted. The very symbols of faith – Maa Durga and Maa Lakshmi – were destroyed on festival days.
As tensions rise in West Bengal, many ask if Hindus can still safely celebrate their festivals in their homeland. Is this the price of ‘secularism’? Have the ‘peacefuls’ destroyed the ‘Abode of Art and Culture’? The recurring anti-Hindu incidents raise troubling questions about the state’s ability to protect its citizens and their religious practices, leaving the Hindu community both disheartened and angry.
West Bengal “Peacefuls” Burn Maa Durga Like Maa Sati!

On the auspicious day of Vijay Dashami an incident from West Bengal shook the Hindus of the Shyampur area. A group of “peaceful” vandals, emboldened by their numbers, attacked the Shyampur Bazar Byabsayi Samiti Puja Pandal. They set fire to the idol of Maa Durga.

The flames that engulfed the idol were not just a physical destruction of clay but a symbolic assault on the very essence of what Durga represents – strength, protection, and victory over evil.
This act turned Maa Durga into Maa Sati, who burnt in the flames of hatred in Daksha Yagya! The horrific incident sent a shiver through the Bengali Hindu community. The image of the burning deity left the devotees feeling helpless and betrayed. Stones were hurled at the immersion ghat as the attackers continued their rampage, defiling a centuries-old tradition of ‘Bhashon’ that marks the conclusion of Durga Puja. Despite attempts by local authorities to restore peace, the damage had already been done.

A Muslim mob stormed the New Bengal Sporting Club's Durga Puja pandal in Garden Reach, Kolkata (Ward 133), threatening to vandalize the Maa Durga idol, abuse Hindu women, and burn down the pandal if devotional songs weren't stopped during Friday namaz. pic.twitter.com/TAJo0M4RjW— Radical Watch (@RadicalWatchOrg) October 13, 2024
Hindu faith and cultural pride lay in ashes alongside the charred remains of the once-glorious idol.
The message was clear: Hindus were being told that their festivals, their joy, and their peace were not safe in certain parts of “peaceful” West Bengal.
West Bengal “Peaceful” Shatter Maa Lakshmi Into Pieces
After Maa Durga Idols in Durga Puja, a group of lsIamists vandalised Maa Lakshmi idol in Bawali Rathtala, West Bengal.
They attacked members of the puja committee too.

As if the attack on Durga Puja wasn’t enough, just days later, another act of religious intolerance took place. In the Bawali Rathtala area, during the Bengali Lakshmi Puja suffered “peaceful” violence. The Lakshmi Puja that falls 3 days after Vijay Dashami and is a festival equally revered by Bengali Hindus. However, the “peaceful” vandals descended upon the pandal and targeted the idol of Maa Lakshmi. The scene that unfolded was horrifying.
Two days ago, Ma Lakshmi idol was vandalised by miscreants at Kumorpara in Chandannagar.
The elderly artist rebuilt the idols, and said that all was fixed by the grace of the Ma Lakshmi.

In other places the attackers did not just desecrate the idol; they disfigured it in Chandannagar and broke it into pieces at Rathtala.
Unlike Maa Sati whose body was shattered during Mahadev’s Tandav, the idol of Maa Laksmi was dismembered due to pure hatred!
We seem to be living in Bangladesh, not in West Bengal

This was more than just a physical destruction of an idol; it was a deliberate, calculated attack meant to send a message. The “peaceful” attackers wanted Hindus to feel unsafe, even in their most sacred spaces. The deliberate dismemberment of Maa Lakshmi was meant to invoke fear and despair among the devotees. And the viral video fills every Hindu with horror as the goddess of wealth and prosperity stands shattered before their eyes. Many are now asking: if such atrocities can take place in the heart of Bengal, a land known for its deep connection with Durga and Lakshmi, where can Hindus find solace?
Hindu Festivals Under “Peaceful” Attack
There have been countless times recently when Hindu festivals have come under attack.
Whether it was Ram Navami or a Shobha Yatra, Hindus have been met with stones—and now, even BULLETS!
We are all well aware of which community is responsible for this.
The question is, why are…

These attacks in West Bengal are not isolated incidents. Over the past few years, there has been a disturbing pattern of increasing violence during Hindu festivals in Bharat. From Durga Puja pandals being attacked to the stone pelting on Shobha Yatras, the very fabric of Hindu celebrations is being torn apart.
Each festival season now comes with a sense of foreboding – will this one be peaceful or “peaceful”?
However, this year, the attacks in West Bengal hit closer to the heart of the Hindu community. The Shyampur incident was followed by similar reports from Garden Reach in Kolkata, where “peaceful” mobs vandalized Puja pandals. In Howrah, another mob rampaged through Hindu neighborhoods, setting fire to shops and pandals. These incidents disastrously cast a long shadow over celebrations of Dharma and Identity among the Hindu community.
This coordinated assault on Hindu festivals raises uncomfortable questions. Why are these mobs so emboldened? Why are the ‘seculars’ silent? Is this a failure of law and order, or is there a deeper agenda at play? Is the religious harmony of West Bengal and Bharat systematically being targeted?
Silence Of The ‘Sickulars’
While Hindus mourn and seek answers, the ‘seculars’ remain conspicuously silent. West Bengal witnesses a sharp rise in communal violence during Hindu festivals, yet the lack of response from the ‘sickulars’ is sickening! The administration is unable to curb the rise of “peaceful” intolerance in the state. As per BJP, the local media outlets, who might otherwise report on these incidents, have been warned against broadcasting the full scale of the violence.
Today a group of miscreants while returning from the Shyampur Police Station where they went to submit a deputation, went berserk and started vandalising the Durga Puja Pandals.

Suvendhu Adhikari and BJP IMPLY that prohibitory orders are often imposed to suppress information rather than to curb the unrest itself.
The collective ‘sickular’ silence and the administration’s approach seem to be one of appeasement. And the environment for Hindus of West Bengal closely resembles the one in Bangladesh! Police forces are being deployed to stop the Hindu wrath from boiling over! And arrests lead to bail to quell public outcry while ensuring appeasement continues! In the case of the Shyampur and Rathtala Harbour incidents, while dozens were arrested, no significant action has been taken against those who masterminded these attacks.

This deafening silence from the ‘sickulars’ on ‘peaceful’ intolerance of Hindu existence should ring alarm bells in the ears of all! This silence only emboldens the “peaceful” vandals to continue their mayhem. Moroever, it deepens the frustration and alienation of the Hindus of Bharat. Therefore, many Sanatanis now feel that their rights to practice their religion freely are being systematically eroded. Why is the government not ensuring Freedom of Religion for Hindus?
Time to Wake Up, Dear Sanatani
Consequently, West Bengal has reached its tipping point. The recent attacks on Hindu festivals, combined with the government’s inability to ensure Hindu safety, make the Hindu community feel vulnerable. Hence, what happened to Maa Durga and Maa Lakshmi idols are not isolated events.
These actions are the beginning of a larger, more troubling “peacefuls” agenda where Hindus will be forced to defend their traditions and beliefs in the very land that once celebrated them.
Thus, the desecration of idols is not just an attack on religion. It is an attack on identity, culture, and the freedom to practice one’s faith. Hence, as the flames of Maa Durga’s idol lit up the night sky, and as the broken pieces of Maa Lakshmi’s idol lay scattered, one thing became clear: the soul of Bengal and Hindus was under threat.
Thus, it is time for Sanatanis to unite and demand justice. It is time for the state and central governments to ensure that Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion is a guarantee for Hindus also! The festivals that have defined Bengal’s identity for centuries must be safeguarded, not destroyed. Moreover, if the current trend continues, the day may come when not just Bengali Hindus but all Sanatanis will find it impossible to celebrate their festivals in peace.Let us not allow that day to come.
