Mira Road has become a center of controversy for Bakri Eid. On 16th June 2024, a society protested against Muslim families that were bringing in goats for slaughter in their homes. Ahead of the Bakrid festival, Muslim residents of an Apartment Society brought goats into the society premises for slaughter. This action was in direct violation of the society’s rules. The society prohibits livestock within the premises. Despite being aware of the society’s laws, the ‘peacefuls’ of Mira Road went ahead and brought their goats to their flats.

The Hindu residents immediately objected to the presence of the goats. They cited health and sanitary concerns, as well as the violation of society regulations. They requested the Muslim residents to remove the goats. Despite initial compliance, the Muslim residents later refused, leading to escalated tensions.

As the protest grew and tensions peaked, ‘peaceful’ Vajud began to verbally abuse and threaten the Hindu residents. According to the FIR filed at the Kashigaon Police Station, Vajud and his associates made several inflammatory remarks.

“Hinduo ke m** ki ch*t” etc. were used to express their communal disdain for Hindus.

Moreover, he threatened to slaughter the goats within the society premises regardless of the opposition.

On 17th June 2024, the police booked Vajud under various sections of the IPC for violating communal harmony and hurting religious sentiments. This action was based on a formal complaint by a Hindu resident, detailing the abuse and threats.

Political and Social Reactions

BJP MLA Geeta Jain from the Mira Bhayander region confirmed the incident and condemned the abusive behavior. She emphasized the need for mutual respect in a shared living space. And she called for strict action against those responsible for the communal tensions. MLA Jain noted an alarming increase in such incidents in the Mira Road region and stressed the need for effective measures to curb them.

Currently, the situation in both societies remains tense but under control. The police have detained the individuals involved in the abuse and threats, and further investigations are ongoing. Despite the temporary resolution, the underlying communal tensions continue to simmer, reflecting a broader issue of communal harmony in mixed-religion societies.

In Conclusion

The Mira Road Bakri Eid incident is a stark reminder of the fragile nature of communal coexistence in urban India. The defiance of society’s rules by some ‘peaceful’ residents ensures that the whole community is looked at unfavorably. Moreover, verbal abuse and threats justify the concerns of Hindu residents about their safety and cultural respect. This incident, along with similar ones in Vadodara and Jaipur, underscores how the Minority abuses the Majority in Bharat! The ‘Dara Hua Peaceful’ is always the one that breaks the law and harmony of a Hindu majority society! Until the religion and its religious teacher learn to behave with humility and tolerance – peace and ‘peaceful’ will always be an oxymoron!
