The administration illegally diverted over 2,000 active state police personnel to serve as private bodyguards for the ruling party’s political leaders and local associates. The administration even made absurd public claims that the central forces will consume all the local LPG gas cylinders. Out of the total forces, the Commission is officially retaining 200 CAPF companies specifically to combat post-poll violence. Following recent bloody clashes in sensitive districts like Malda and Bhangar, the ECI explicitly warned local District Magistrates. If any official fails to protect the citizens, they will face immediate suspension.
