Punjab Police have foiled a major cross-border terror conspiracy by busting an alleged Pakistan-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module and arresting its key operative from Jalandhar. Acting on intelligence inputs, security agencies recovered a 1.3 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) packed with high explosives, shrapnel and ball bearings, preventing what officials described as a planned high-impact terror attack.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Jalandhar and the Jalandhar Rural Police, dealing another blow to Pakistan-backed terror networks attempting to destabilise Punjab.

Key BKI Operative Arrested During Joint Operation
According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the arrested accused has been identified as Satbir Singh, a resident of Padiana village in Adampur, Jalandhar.
Police said intelligence inputs revealed that an operative linked to the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) had collected a consignment of explosives on the instructions of foreign-based handlers.
Acting swiftly, police teams set up a naka near Dhandaur village and intercepted Satbir Singh while he was travelling on a motorcycle. During the search, officers recovered a bag containing the IED. The motorcycle used by the accused was also seized.
IED Designed To Cause Maximum Damage
Officials said the recovered explosive device contained 1.3 kg of high explosive along with iron shrapnel and ball bearings, indicating that it was designed to inflict maximum casualties in a crowded area.
According to the Punjab Police, the timely recovery of the explosive prevented what could have been a major terror attack aimed at disturbing public peace.
The operation is being viewed as a significant success in neutralising a serious security threat before the conspiracy could be executed.
Pakistan-Based Handlers Under Investigation
The Punjab Police said the terror module was allegedly being operated by foreign-based handlers linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the banned Babbar Khalsa International.
Investigators are now working to establish the complete network, including the foreign masterminds, local support systems and logistical channels that helped move the explosives into Punjab.
Officials are also examining how the IED reached the accused and whether additional operatives remain active within the network.
Probe Continues To Dismantle The Entire Network
An FIR has been registered at Patara Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.
The Punjab Police said further investigations are underway to uncover the module’s forward and backward linkages. Officials added that more arrests could follow as investigators trace the wider conspiracy.
The successful operation highlights the continuing challenge posed by cross-border terror networks and the importance of sustained intelligence-based operations to prevent attacks before they can be carried out.
