Sagarika Ghosh Shamelessly Twists Tragedy For TMC?

Must Read

The former toolkit journalist and current TMC Rajya Sabha MP, Sagarika Ghosh, is shamelessly defending both herself and the TMC. In the wake of the horrific RG Kar Hospital gang rape and murder case, the obvious cover-up and inaction is known to all. The TMC’s force of women MPs kept their silence for 3 days. Once they got the nod from the “Didi,” they shed all pretenses of Nari Shakti and began their attempts to discredit everyone under the sun.

They shamed the victim, blamed the doctors who were protesting, and lastly, they framed the opposition. The first among equals for shamelessly defending the TMC’s actions was MP Sagarika Ghosh! Her statement, and that of her fellow TMC Naris, reveals a disturbing attempt to whitewash the appalling reality while dodging accountability. Let’s understand why her latest infuriating defense rings hollow of any genuine feelings.

Sagarika Ghosh – Hypocrisy in Action?

MP Sagarika Ghosh insists that the TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, is “standing by victims” and working toward justice. She points to her party’s track record on women’s issues. Of course, she does not count the grave injustice in Sandeshkhali or the latest rape murder in Burdwan. And let’s not speak of the two publicly known instances of Taliban-like Sharia courts!

Add to this blatant hypocrisy the systematic harassment faced by doctors who peacefully protested the mishandling of the case – and you have delusional politicians trying to mask the truth!

The latest on-dit in Kolkata is that over 42 medical professionals were transferred on the 16th of August 2024. No cause was officially stated, just the simple whims of the Health Minister cum Home Minister cum Chief Minister. These orders are a very noticeable intimidation for raising their voices against the state-sponsored cover-up. The very people demanding transparency and justice are being silenced, while Ghosh and the TMC parade their faux concern in a show of street power!

Her claims about her involvement, motherhood, and dedication to justice have a false ring to them. They seem more like deflections from the ugly truth than genuine attempts to address the real issues. The doctors’ protest was a clear plea for accountability, the mob that hijacked their protest wanted to destroy the pieces of evidence. Yet Sagarika Ghosh conveniently omits this critical fact in her narrative.

A Farcical Show of Solidarity Or Political Muscle Flexing?

Sagarika Ghosh calls Mamata Banerjee’s march as evidence of the TMC’s empathy and commitment to justice. However, this march was nothing more than a political show of force. It was deliberately staged to intimidate those who dared to demand the truth. The timing of the march and its performative nature raises questions about its sincerity.

The TMC administration’s real response was to transfer and harass the very people who were fighting for justice. The covert response was to engage in Cyber Bullying in the form of Cyber POlicing. Thus, CM Mamata’s “protest march” wasn’t about standing with the victims but about reclaiming control over the narrative that her government was losing.

Cover-Up Politics: When Silence Speaks Louder

Sangarika Ghosh’s insistence that there is no cover-up is laughable in the face of the evidence. If the TMC is so committed to justice, then why are doctors being attacked for speaking out? Why did the TMC ask for seven days respite before transferring the case to the CBI? Are social media voices of concern not being targeted when they discuss the RG Kar Medical College gang-rape case? Why is the Kolkata Police’s cyber branch attempting to influence the social media narrative? Why was the murder initially told to the parents’ as a suicide? Which perpetrators are being saved by calling this gang-rape as a simple ‘rape’? Where is the transparency in words and acts from the beginning till date?

The cover-up isn’t a social media creation—it’s a reality that Sagarika Ghosh and her party are trying desperately to hide.

The voice of Kolkata is being silenced!

And its unique set of values and culture is being murdered right before our eyes!

The complicity of the state machinery in the initial stages of the case reveals an appalling disregard for the victim and her family. They promoted the Principal of RG Kar Medical College within hours of the incident, and Sagarika Ghosh turned a blind eye to this fact. The suspicious lack of CCTV for the seminar hall and the alleged attempt by the police to buy the silence of parents – all point towards a cover-up! It took public outrage for the wheels of justice to even begin turning. However, the subsequent actions of the TMC have only served to further undermine the credibility of their so-called commitment to justice.

Shame on Sagarika Ghosh

As a woman with a voice, as an MP with power, and as a long-time journalist, Sagarika Ghosh has failed Bharat. Her attempts to paint herself and her party as champions of justice is a shameless display of political opportunism. Instead of addressing the real issues, she opts for empty rhetoric and deflection. Anyone who questions her and the coterie of TMC MPs gets blocked or served with notices. Thus, her claim to stand for women’s rights rings hollow. The people fighting for justice are being silenced by TMC in West Bengal, and Sagarika only spouts the ecosystem response.

In the Parliament, where they want to address every small issue, she talks about Bharat adopting the TMC model. Oh, the horrors of what Bharat shall be under a TMC-like Dictatorship! Comparing rape statistics of states worse than West Bengal will not serve justice to Moumita Debnath! Using numbers to hide facts, is an act of cowardice! Shame on Sagarika Ghosh and shame on the TMC for turning this horrific tragedy into a public farce.
