In a bizarre yet hilarious twist of events, a Sikh account floated a post on Canada that stirred up a small storm. The account recently posted a social media post suggesting a radical yet somehow logical idea. It suggested that if the pursuit of a Khalistani homeland in India proves fruitless, why not endeavor to carve out Khalistan in Canada?
This audacious yet innovative proposal had a very short life in social media. But another X account reposted the screenshot of the original tweet. And nationalist netizens are reacting to this hilarious repost. However, the impact of the deleted was far from insignificant. It left hardcore nationalist Indians in stitches, but it prompted widespread debate on the a ‘Kanneda not Canada’ notion. Let’s talk!
Canada Will Be The Mother Of Khalistan?
Have #Khalistanis finally “jumped the shark 🦈”? Perhaps. pic.twitter.com/394uY1Elbz

The post was put out by a Sikh account sikh(HCA). However, the original tweet on X was swiftly taken down. Why? Because it suggested that Khalistanis should consider overtaking parts of Canada. A picture of the post was shared by another account, which had many nationalists doubled over in laughter. And most Indians who came across the post loved the idea!
Canada has a small population of 3.9 crores, something similar to the Delhi-NCR area. The Sikh diaspora in Canada is close to 8 lakhs. And as per reports, there are supposedly 25 million Khalistani supporters in India, from parts of Punjab and Haryana. The tweet’s rationale is simple, albeit laughable. With their sheer numbers, if all Khalistanis assemble in Canada, they could easily outnumber the native Canadian population in certain parts of the nation. Thereby, laying claim to the vast resources of the Great White North in the name of Khalistan.
The reaction on social media was instantaneous and overwhelmingly mocking. Many questioned if the Khalistani movement had finally “jumped the shark.” Memes and jokes proliferated, with users imagining scenarios where Canada and its friendly ‘Gender Neutral’ populace would suddenly find itself overrun by zealous Khalistani extremists.
Is Khalistan A Story Of Opportunism?
The short-lived journey of the post highlighted a critical insight: the Khalistani mentality is highly opportunistic and self-serving. These Khalistani extremists and their allies seem ready to bite the hand that feeds them. The post demonstrates a striking lack of loyalty to their adopted homeland as well as to their original cause. The post’s brief existence may be a symptom of another growing sentiment among Khalistani supporters in Canada.
Maybe Khalistanis are speculating if their cause can transcend borders.
And they are willing to exploit any opportunity to benefit their Khalistani goals.
Interestingly, this incident also sheds light on the comfort and privileges many Khalistani supporters enjoy in Canada. Living in a developed nation with first-world amenities, the idea of relocating to any form of Khalistan in South Asia might not be as appealing. Furthermore, the prospect of moving to Pakistani Punjab, should a Khalistan carve-out from Pakistan Punjab become a reality, is likely even less attractive. Thus, a section of Khalistanis may be entertaining this opportunistic idea of claiming Khalistan in Canada itself!
From Canada to Kanneda?
While the tweet was quickly removed, its mere existence betrays a worrying trend for the Canadians. It highlights an evolving notion of Khalistan among some extremists of placing Canada at the Kahlistani bullseye. This development is amusing for Bharat and concerning for Canada. It reveals a deeper disloyalty and willingness of Khalistanis to disrupt the nations to further their cause. Therefore, even a nation that has provided refuge and nurtured the Khalistani ideology is not safe!
The controversial post, delineated the Khalistani territory with the coordinates stretching from Victoria to Winnipeg. Reaching as far east as Halifax, on the Atlantic coast, and extending frigid north in Iqaluit, near the Arctic. This outrageous demarcation suggested a Khalistan that would span from the Pacific to the Atlantic and up into the Arctic. And it humorously implied a takeover of a vast and diverse swath of Canadian territory, showcasing the extent of their absurd ambitions and aspirations. Thus, it seems we may expect the Khalistanis to burst into the following:
From the Arctic to the Pacific to the Atlantic, ‘Kanneda’ Will Be Khalistan!
Word to the wise, the brief but impactful appearance of the post serves as a warning. It reminds everyone that the Khalistani movement’s ambitions are not confined to Indian borders. Hence, by nurturing the aspirations of Khalistanis, Canada might be inviting its own doom. Therefore, as these extremists continue to enjoy the comforts of their Canadian homes, they might be increasingly willing to entertain the idea of “Khalistan in Kanneda.” However, whether this remains a social media joke or becomes a more serious issue is yet to be seen. For now, it remains a testament to the lengths some will go to pursue their controversial dreams!
