West Bengal Gives NIA The ED Treatment
In January 2024, Sheikh Shahjahan’s loyal mob attacked the ED team. The ED officials faced-off with a violent mob that hurt the vehicles, police, and the ED team. At the time, the ED team was on its way to conducting searches related to the Public Distribution System Scam and its connection to the now-arrested Sheikh Shahjahan. CM Mamata stood in solidarity with the deviant mob and mocked the central investigation agencies.
Similarly, the NIA team was met with TMC supporters who blocked their way and obstructed the path of justice.

The team was on its way to arrest TMC leaders Manobrata Jana and Balai Charan Maity as accused in the 2022 Bhupatinagar bomb blast case. The mob, comprising women and men, pelted stones at the NIA team, refusing to let them do their job. Thus, causing injury to two officials and damage to the vehicle.Â
A Prelude – 2022 Bhupatinagar Blast at TMC Leader’s Residence
In December 2022, a blast rocked the residence of TMC booth president Rajkumar Manna.
This blast left rubble and injured in its wake. The blast occurred when a rudimentary bomb was accidentally set off. Consequently, three individuals Rajkumar Manna, Biswajit Gayen, and Buddhadeb Manna lost their lives in an explosion that occurred in Rajkumar Manna’s home.Â
The incident sent shockwaves through the nation. It revealed the extent of anti-social activities prevalent under TMC’s rule in West Bengal. Moreover, it unmasked the fragile peace and stability in the region. The West Bengal Police’s initial FIR did not register the case under the Explosive Substances Act. A writ petition was later filed at the Calcutta HC for the same. Consequently, the case was transferred to the NIA after the pertinent portions of the Act were included. The investigations into the blast unfolded and led to the arrest of more TMC goons. Thus, suspicions are alive about potential links of organized crime to TMC’s political agendas.

Do you know what CM Mamata stated after the news of the violent mob went viral? She said the people were right to attack the NIA and vandalize vehicles. Why? Because the team reached the site at midnight! She projected her political bias on NIA’s motives and actions on a two-year-old case! She even questioned NIA’s authority to arrest people in West Bengal without prior Bengal police permission!!! However, her allegations lack concrete evidence or logic. In fact, she is unnecessarily politicizing law enforcement efforts against the terrorist activity of making crude bombs!
CM Mamata’s Reign Of Terror In West Bengal?
Under the rule of CM Mamata, West Bengal has descended into utter lawlessness. Her iron grip on power has led to the erosion of democratic values and all institutions meant to protect the citizens. Violence and intimidation meets any act of dissent. The recent attacks on law enforcement agencies like the ED and the NIA highlight the precarious state of law and order in the state. Will the Union government continue to let West Bengal waste away under TMC? Is there no hope for the state where the rule of law is subverted for TMC’s political gain?
