In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, local women performed Navgrah Puja at the site of the newly constructed Satyavrat Police Post. Located near Jama Masjid, the police post symbolizes a commitment to law and order in a region recently plagued by Islamist violence.

The women expressed relief and joy, lighting lamps and creating Navgrah symbols during the traditional ceremony. One participant shared, “With the police post here, we feel much safer. This brings peace to our lives.”

The Bhoomi Puja for the post took place earlier that morning, marking the official start of construction. This move follows a crackdown on illegal activities and encroachments in Sambhal under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive.

Owaisi’s Criticism

While residents celebrated the construction of the Satyavrat Police Post, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi voiced his opposition. On social media, he accused the government of neglecting education and healthcare in favor of building police posts and liquor stores. He further claimed that areas with significant Muslim populations receive the least government facilities, labeling the decision discriminatory.

However, these claims raise pertinent questions. Owaisi’s own constituency faces similar issues, prompting a closer look at leadership choices. The lack of development in such areas could reflect the consequences of electing leaders focused on personal gains rather than public welfare. Development requires responsible governance, not ideologically driven politics or morally questionable representatives. Residents must reflect on their leadership choices and demand accountability from those they elect, rather than blaming external factors.

The timing of Owaisi’s criticism is particularly notable. The construction of the police post was necessitated by the violent incidents in November, where an Islamist mob attacked law enforcement during a court-mandated survey at Jama Masjid. This context underscores the importance of enhancing law and order to ensure the safety of all residents in the area.

Restoring Order: Yogi Government’s Bold Actions

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration has taken decisive steps to restore order and ensure public safety. Following the November violence, police uncovered illegal activities linked to Islamist groups. An illegal power station was found supplying electricity to over 100 houses, and Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rahman Barq was exposed for electricity theft.

Encroachments on religious sites, including a temple, were cleared, with the administration rediscovering an ancient Baori (stepwell). These actions demonstrate the government’s commitment to upholding justice and preserving cultural heritage.

November Violence: A Wake-Up Call

The need for the Satyavrat Police Post stems from the violent events of November 24th. During a second round of court-mandated surveys at Jama Masjid, an Islamist mob turned violent, attacking police with stones and firearms. Vehicles and shops were set ablaze, leaving 20 police personnel injured. Four rioters lost their lives, reportedly due to the use of illegal firearms.

The violence disrupted efforts to investigate claims that Jama Masjid was built on the site of an ancient Kalki temple, a protected monument under the Ancient Monuments Preservation(ASI) Act. The survey’s findings remain sealed as the legal battle continues.

Ensuring Safety

The establishment of the Satyavrat Police Post signifies a turning point for Sambhal. Women’s participation in rituals at the construction site reflects the community’s support for the government’s efforts to ensure safety and stability.

Despite criticism from figures like Owaisi, the Yogi-led administration remains steadfast. It has reaffirmed its commitment to law and justice by addressing illegal activities and restoring order. Sambhal’s residents, particularly its women, now look forward to a safer future under the watchful eye of Satyavrat Police Post.

This development is a testament to the transformative power of proactive governance in the face of adversity. Under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh continues to pave the way for justice and peace in regions long overshadowed by unrest.
