On Muhammad Yunus

Commenting about Muhammad Yunus, who is set to lead the Bangladesh government. Mr Joy, stated, “Today he is talking about liberation, but what kind of liberation is this? Liberation for anarchy, rioting, and vandalism? Is this the freedom Bangladesh wants? If he believes this is what the people want and everything is fine, then good luck to them.”

‘Ensure Safety of Minorities’

In this interview, Mr. Joy also talked about the condition of minorities in Bangladesh and urged the new government which is set to be formed, to ensure their safety. He told IANS, “Two things need to be done. First, the government in Bangladesh should ensure the safety of minorities within the country because we believe in secularism. Minority voters should feel as valued as any other citizens, and as long as the current government is in power, the safety of minorities should be guaranteed..”

‘No Decision On Asylum’

According to a Bangladesh newspaper, The Daily Star, Mr. Joy claimed that his mother has not decided whether to seek an asylum in U.K or U.S. He had rubbish such claims and called them all “rumours.”

He said, “These (reports about plan for asylum in the US and UK) are all rumours. She has not made a decision on that yet. She is going to stay in Delhi for a little while.” Continuing further he added, “There is no decision for her (Hasina) to move from India to another place. Sheikh Hasina is well and now in Delhi. My sister is with her. My sister lives in Delhi… She is well, but very upset.”

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina’s military aircraft had landed in Delhi on August 5. However, as per ANI report, it is officially not clear whether she’ll continue to stay in India or will move to another location later.
