The spirit of Israeli resistance and courage is remarkable, this makes Sanatanis and Jews all the more alike
Israel is burning, scores of innocent Israelis have been killed or abducted by Hamas terrorists.
Yet the Israeli spirit of resistance is very high, ordinary Israelis have joined hands to defend their country in the face of Islamist terrorism.
The heroic resistance and courage of ordinary Israelis have necessitated the need to write about the Israeli spirit of resistance.
Jews-One of the most Persecuted Communities
The reason behind the steely courage and fortitude of Israelis is because centuries of persecution.
These persecutions has made them all the more strong.
The history of this persecution dates back to the Roman times.
This was when all Jews living in the region of what today constitutes ‘Israel’ in that time were banished by the Romans in the 1st century AD.
As early as 605 BCE, Jews living in the Neo-Babylonian Empire were persecuted and banished.
Over the years the Jewish people have faced persecution at the hands of Christians and Muslims across the world.
They were made scapegoats and were massacred in events like the Black Death persecutions, the 1066 Granada Massacre, the 1391 pogrom in Spain.
But two of the most appalling tales of persecution are the communist led persecution and the Nazi pogrom.
In the former the Romanovs massacred some four million Jews over a century.
In the Holocaust the Nazis systematically killed six million Jews across Europe.
This came to be known as the Holocaust. Auschwitz concentration camp serves as a reminder to the horrors of this persecution.
Israel-Holding Strong in the Face of Adversity
Israel’s history has been the manifestation of heroic resistance.
In the 1948 war, 1967 Suez War, 1973 Yom Kippur War Arab states sought to gang up and threatened to undo Israel’s existence.
But they held out and finally emerged victorious in all these wars.
That is the reason why cultivation of hard power is so necessary.
Israel is surrounded by hostile Muslim states, but they dare not attack Israel because of its military prowess.
Hindus and Jews-Brothers at Arms
The history of persecution of Hindus and Jews and a certain degree of commonality between our customs and traditions highlights the fact that Hindus and Jews are brother communities.
The solid support provided by Sanatanis to the Israeli resistance is a testimony to the bond between these two communities.
This bond must continue to grow and prosper.
The spirit of Israeli resistance and courage must be told in every Hindu household to bolster our own spirit of resistance.
