On 28th August 2024, a police raid at Prayagraj’s Jamia Habibiya Madrasa exposed a “peaceful” fake currency factory hidden within its premises. The madrasa fake-notes-factory was located at the Atarsuya area. This religious school was printing counterfeit Indian currency notes. The police seized 1,300 fake 100-rupee notes. A total of 234 sheets of printed fake currency, three bundles of paper, a printer, a cutter, a laptop, and other related items were seized from the scene.

The “peaceful” principal of the madrasa, Mohammad Tafseerul, was arrested for his involvement in the operation.

The operation came to light after the Civil Lines Police received a tip-off. Reports state that an informant spoke about individuals dealing in fake Indian currency at the Civil Lines bus stand. Acting swiftly, the Prayagraj police conducted a raid and apprehended three suspects. During interrogation, the suspects revealed the existence of a fake currency factory within the madrasa. A subsequent raid led to the discovery of the factory. Here the police found 234 counterfeit notes just waiting to be cut and sent out.

The DCP City, Deepak Bhukar, revealed that the madrasa principal was not only aware of the illegal activities but was actively involved in them.

The Madrasa is a den of inequity! Reports also show that sexual harassment of young boys occurs often in these “peaceful” institutes. Additionally, many reports speak of anti-India rhetorics peddled to the students in a Madrasa! Thus, in light of all these anti-social actions, this incident shows the dark of the Madrasa system.

Hence, Muslim educational institutions turn into “peaceful” dens under the hands of zealots. These “peaceful” dens can be easily misused for criminal purposes. Why? Because the government is not allowed to regulate the Madrasa system. Only the Muslim community and its leader run the Madrasa!!

The arrest of the Madrasa principal and students involved in this fake currency racket is a symptom of a sick “peaceful” community. It reminds Bharat of the urgent need for strict vigilance and accountability within Madrasa and other religious educational institutes. The misuse of a Madrasa for amoral activities is a stain on the Muslim community. Is this how they teach religious and moral education to their youth? Is this not a grave violation of trust?

In Summary

The Prayagraj fake money racket is a wake-up call for authorities. The “peacefuls” cannot be given special dispensation under the law. Additionally, all educational institutions need close monitoring and regulation via the central agencies. The easy misuse and infiltration of criminal “peaceful” elements into places of learning is a danger to society.

Such instances not only tarnish the reputation of the institution, community, and nation; but also pose a significant threat to national security.

This discovery should prompt a nationwide crackdown on similar activities nationwide. Moreover, the administration must ensure that misuse of “peaceful” educational spaces is never repeated again. Let’s hope that the government is able to centralize the Madrsa system to put a stop to such “peacefuls” activities!
