Ghosts on Payroll: BJP Suspect AAP’s ‘Invisible Workers’ In Delhi!

Must Read

Delhi’s politics just got spookier. BJP has unearthed a new scam in the capital’s shelter homes! Allegedly, AAP has ghosts on its payroll. Yes, literal ghosts!!! Or at least, that’s what it looks like. Crores of rupees have allegedly been siphoned off through “ghost workers” in Delhi’s government-run shelter homes. This ₹250 crore scam may hurt AAP’s ambitions as state elections draw near! Let’s find the GHOST in AAP’s Delhi!!

BJP Alleges Phantom Payrolls In AAP’s Delhi

Imagine one worker showing up in four places at once, drawing multiple salaries, all while sipping chai in their one actual workplace. A BJP investigation found shelter homes supposedly staffed with five or six caretakers but running on just two humans – and zero spirits. But wait, there’s more!

These “ghost workers” have identical Aadhaar numbers, bank accounts, and, apparently, supernatural multitasking abilities.

According to BJP Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva, this ghostly scam amounts to a jaw-dropping ₹250 crore. That’s enough to run multiple Sheesh Mahals of AAP Head honcho Kejriwal.

And what does AAP have to say about this? The party admits to having thousands of ghost workers on its payroll of shelter homes. These appointments are done via the AAP government. However, AAP’s Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has conveniently blamed the LG and BJP. He claims that complaints filed by him were ignored by the LG. AAP’s defense boils down to: “It’s not us, it’s LG!” Meanwhile, Delhiites wonder why their tax money keeps vanishing into the “ghostly” void.

Delhi Elections – Ghost and Accountability

Funnily, in 2015 the AAP had accused INC of ghost workers on its payroll in the MCD. And today it stands accused of the same tactic in shelter homes! The timing of this scam couldn’t be worse for AAP. After the liqour scam and education institute scam, Delhiites are fed up! And Delhi Assembly Elections are just around the corner. Thus, adding to the Sheesh Mahal scam image of AAP, this new scam shows the party’s promises of a clean, efficient government are as hollow as a ghost!

Delhi voters must ask themselves some hard questions:
  1. Who benefits from this scam? ₹250 crores were allegedly misappropriated! Who is pocketing the money? Why did AAP not offer honest Indian youths these jobs?
  2. Why is AAP silent? A party that loves to call press conferences for every minor issue. However, it has gone curiously quiet on this. Their only statement is a well known tactic of blaming the LG!
  3. What about accountability? Despite being in power for nearly a decade, AAP has not delivered on any of its promises. From the Yamuna water to Delhi air pollution, the AAP report card shows “F for Fail” in bold red! And this alleged scam seems to add to its reputation for corruption and miappropriation of funds.

Here are some numbers and facts shared by the BJP on this “Ghost Worker” scam:

  • ₹250 crore: The alleged amount siphoned off in the “ghost worker” scam.
  • Lost jobs: A number of honest youths were denied livelihood in favor of “ghost workers”! The only excuse the AAP has is that the vigilance directorate should act on the issue, not the elected government!
  • 4-5 shelters per worker: Ghost workers allegedly draw salaries from multiple shelters, while actual staff struggle to manage even one. The burden of extra work falls on the shoulder of honest workers!
  • 2 out of 6: Actual number of workers present in many shelters, instead of the mandated 5-6. The shelter homes let go of the upkeep and smooth functioning to appease AAP “ghost worker” strategy!

The Bigger Picture: AAP’s Mismanagement

This scam isn’t an isolated incident in Delhi. It reflects a pattern of financial mismanagement and misplaced priorities under AAP’s governance. While Kejriwal boasts about Delhi’s “model” governance, the reality is starkly different:

  • The Yamuna remains polluted despite crores spent on clean-up projects.
  • Delhi’s air quality continues to be among the worst in the world, with no concrete measures in place.
  • The education sector, once a flagship project, is now mired in controversies over inflated budgets and substandard infrastructure.
  • The Mohalla clinics are hollow scam where no poor ever gets treatment.
  • Delhi youth remain jobless, while favored employees turn into “ghost workers”! No jobs were generated or allotted by the AAP, instead, it stole jobs from the youth by allegedly using the Ghost Worker scam!

What Can Delhi Voters Do?

As Delhi heads to the polls next year, voters have a choice to make. Do they want a government that prioritizes Sheesh Mahals over shelter homes? Or do they want leaders who genuinely care about the city and its vulnerable residents? Are free electricity and bus rides worth living in the declining conditions of the capital?

Will the youth of Delhi swallow its pride by accepting a loss of jobs to choose AAP’s poll promise of freebies?

The alleged “ghost worker” scam is more than just a financial scandal. It’s a betrayal of trust. AAP came to power promising change, but it seems the only change Delhiites have received is in the party’s priorities – from serving the people to serving themselves.

In this election, Delhi voters must exorcise the ghosts haunting their governance and demand accountability. After all, democracy is not about blind faith but informed choices.
