Delhi has spoken. The 10 years of Aam Aadmi Party’s misrule, colored the capital state saffron. BJP received a resoundingly clear mandate marking its massive victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, a political milestone that signals the complete rejection of AAP’s governance.
With 48 out of 70 seats, BJP crushed AAP, whose convenor Arvind Kejriwal lost his own seat in the New Delhi constituency.

The verdict is clear – Delhi has had enough of AAP’s broken promises, corruption, and mismanagement. The party that once captured the imagination of Delhi’s middle class with its “common man” politics has now been reduced to rubble. The dramatic turnaround proves that voters can forgive mistakes, but not deception. Kejriwal’s promises of free electricity, water, and “corruption-free governance” collapsed under the weight of reality. The people of Delhi, tired of propaganda and unfulfilled guarantees, have now entrusted the BJP with the responsibility to rebuild their city.
Why Did Delhi Turn Against AAP?
-
Anti-incumbency and Voter Fatigue
AAP’s decade-long rule exhausted the patience of Delhiites. What began as a movement against corruption became a regime of arrogance, lies, and self-serving politics. The Sheeshmehal and Liquor Scam exposed the degeneracy of AAP. The party that once promised clean governance started making excuses for every failure.
"AAP lost because no work was being done in Delhi since last few years" 🤡🤡
Bro, you were praising their 'work' last week. At this point, your 'unbiased' badge is as believable as AAP's 'zero corruption' claim. 🤡 https://t.co/c2wLiDnTTF

- The Delhi Jal Board collapsed, leaving thousands of homes without clean drinking water. During the AAP tenure, it sank to 993% loss compared to 2015. Despite Kejriwal’s repeated claims of fixing Delhi’s water crisis, residents continued to suffer.
- The Delhi Transport System deteriorated. It suffered more than double its losses. Thereby, making the city’s buses a symbol of mismanagement. Kejriwal’s much-hyped electric bus fleet remained a pipe dream.
- The world-class education sold to the common man turned out to be as hollow as bamboo. The HC reprimanded the AAP for failing to create the education system the people of Delhi need desperately.
- The health sector‘s Mohalla Clinics were exposed as nothing but marketing gimmicks. Hospitals were understaffed and “Mohalla Clinics” had ghost workers drawing double or triple salaries! It seems the cure and care of Delhiites was the last thing on AAP’s mind!
Delhiites had once viewed AAP as a breath of fresh air and grew tired of excuses. The sympathy that Kejriwal had once enjoyed was gone. People began to see through his constant blame game – whether it was against the Centre, LG, or even the Supreme Court.

AAP was built on the promise of “honest politics.” But over the years, it became one of the most corrupt regimes Delhi had ever seen. The party that vowed to clean politics ended up embroiled in multiple scams.
People of Delhi against CORRUPTION 🔥
All Top AAP leaders who were in Jail on CORRUPTION charges LOST the Assembly Election 🎯
— Kejriwal lost by 4089 votes.
— Sisodia lost by 675 votes.
— Satyendar Jain lost by 20998 votes. pic.twitter.com/j4TJyIP8nv— Megh Updates 🚨™ (@MeghUpdates) February 8, 2025
- Liquor Scam: The infamous Delhi liquor policy scandal exposed how AAP ministers manipulated policies to benefit private companies in exchange for bribes. The arrest of top AAP leaders proved that corruption had become institutionalized within the party.
- Sheeshmahal Scam: With receipts to prove the abject corruption of AAP in money laundering, BJP’s campaign never let the voters forget how their tax money was spent.
Delhi entrusted AAP with transparent and corruption-free governance, but in turn, they got even the basic infrastructure dilapidated. Due to reckless freebies and depleting revenue receipts, Delhi is projected to slip into a revenue deficit by FY25 for the first time in 31 years. pic.twitter.com/pmzmkL6eOr

- ₹1000 per month for women: A promise made just before the elections remained an unfulfilled lie. Women voters felt betrayed, realizing that AAP had no intention of delivering.
- Power and Water Freebies: While AAP boasted about free electricity and water, hidden charges and inflated bills told a different story. Many residents found that subsidies were selectively applied, and Kejriwal’s populist model was unsustainable.
Kapil Mishra was a minister in Kejriwal Govt. He could've enjoyed power easily
~ He chose the road less traveled. He EXPOSED AK's corruption. Ditched AAP. Joined BJP. Fought for every Sanatani & Delhi🚩Today, He is an MLA again. Heartiest Congratulations .@KapilMishra_IND ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Uejbnaye6P

Corruption, deception, and failed promises became the defining characteristics of AAP’s rule. Delhiites finally decided that enough was enough.

BJP’s Strategic Campaign and Modi Factor
The people of Delhi have rejected the corrupt AAP, decimated the Congress party for the third consecutive time, and have given @BJP4Delhi a historic mandate in the assembly elections. Today's results reflect that people have chosen the development politics of our Hon PM Thiru… pic.twitter.com/linfBkPDsp

Unlike previous elections, the BJP ran an aggressive, well-planned campaign. Lacking a CM face, they exposed AAP’s weaknesses. Moreover, they went directly to the people with a clear message – better governance, real development, and a corruption-free Delhi.
If you had told BJP supporters in June 2024 that the BJP would win Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi back to back to back, they would have called you mental.
Opposition party supporters would have called you deluded.
And yet, here we are. What difference 8 months can make. pic.twitter.com/JhKAT29ckY

PM Modi’s and CM Yogi’s popularity played a crucial role. The BJP projected Modi’s governance model of Double Engine Sarkaar. Additionally, they promised to focus on infrastructure, cleanliness, and law & order – as the ideal roadmap for Delhi. The party also tapped into the anger of middle-class voters, who were frustrated with AAP’s policies but had no alternative until now.
- Women’s Safety & Empowerment: BJP promised increased policing, better public transport security, and initiatives to make Delhi safer for women.
- Infrastructure Development: Unlike AAP, which focused on optics, BJP laid out detailed plans for roads, metro expansion, and flyovers.
- Economic Growth: With businesses struggling due to AAP’s anti-industry policies, BJP assured an investor-friendly environment that would create real jobs, not just government handouts.
The “Modi ki Guarantee” with “Yogi ki Warantee” sealed the deal. BJP convinced voters that their model was not about freebies but about empowerment and development. The people of Delhi, witnessing real progress in BJP-ruled states, chose growth over gimmicks.
Congress’ Delhi Duck-Out – Rahul Gandhi’s Failed Optics
After ruling Delhi (UT) for 15 years…
CCNgress in Delhi-
2015: Zero MLAs.
2020: Zero MLAs.
2025: Zero MLAs.2014: Zero MPs.
2019: Zero MPs.
2024: Zero MPs.Jan Nayak Rahul Ghandy Zindabad😂 pic.twitter.com/H8WKsqlDOO

Congress has hit rock bottom in Delhi. Zero seats. Zero impact. And “Zero” future. After Haryana and Maharashtra, Delhi has delivered yet another brutal rejection of Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. The grand old party, that ruled the capital for 15 years under Sheila Dixit, is now politically irrelevant.
This wipeout proves a harsh reality – Congress cannot win without coalition partners pulling double weight. Rahul Gandhi’s optics-heavy politics might generate media buzz, but on the ground, voters have completely abandoned the party. His fiery speeches, social media campaigns, and theatrics have failed to translate into votes.
Therefore, Delhi’s verdict shall send shockwaves across the INDI Alliance.
Congress has now lost in three crucial states – Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi. In Jharkhand, a coalition with JMM saved the day. However, today, the message is clear: Congress is deadweight.

INDI Alliance and INC’s Performance
- Haryana: Many believed that Haryana was Congress’ battle to loose! And they did that spectacularly. How? Well, the BJP and RSS united to ensure that CM Saini came back to power with full majority. And the loss of Haryana paved the way for future losses in Maharshtra and Delhi
- Maharashtra: Congress only won seats thanks to the hard work of SS UBT and Sharad Pawar’s NCP. This loss shall help them claim that any links with INC sink more votes than they create. Rahul Gandhi’s Congress is a hollow force that is good only on optics.
- Bihar: without the weight of Nitish Kumar’s JDU, Tejaswini Yadav must now ask: Why sacrifice seats for Congress if it brings no votes? The Bihar Ammebly Elections are due in a few months and the Double Engine Sarkaar with JDU is ready to deliver on its promises. Will Bihar reject Nitish Kumar and BJP’s alliance? Or will RaGa’s verbal diarrhea ruin Tejaswini Yada’s political aspirations?
- West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee’s TMC has already distanced herself from Congress. The Lok Sabha elections did not see TMC and INC flourishing. The Delhi results shall push INC further to the sidelines, with CM Mamata demanding a change in the alliance’s leadership.
- Tamil Nadu: DMK has long carried Congress on its back. However, in 2026 the state is due to face Assembly polls. Thus, with Rahul failing to revive the party, how long will DMK continue to fortify the leaking ship of INC?

Congress’s third straight ‘zero’ in a major state will force allies to reconsider their loyalty. Propping up the Gandhi scion might be political suicide. Hence, Duck Out Gandhi shall face uncomfortable questions and media scrutiny in the days to come.
What does Delhi expect from BJP now?
Jana Shakti is paramount!
Development wins, good governance triumphs.

Delhi has given the BJP a massive mandate. But with victory comes responsibility. People voted for change, not just for the sake of it, but because they expect real governance.
What BJP must do in Delhi in first 100 days if they want to show they mean business –
• Form SIT to investigate AAP corruption
• Start laying sewage throughout Delhi
• Fix dirty water problem like an epidemic
• Start PWD road laying (not repairs) on war footing
• PM take…— Yo Yo Funny Singh (@moronhumor) February 8, 2025
- Cleaner Governance: BJP must ensure transparency and accountability. People voted out AAP because of its corruption; they will not tolerate the same from BJP.
- Improved Infrastructure: Delhi’s traffic congestion, air pollution, and public transport must be fixed. The BJP government will be judged on how well it executes these crucial projects.
- Water & Electricity Reforms: Instead of AAP’s populist model, BJP must introduce sustainable reforms that ensure consistent and fair electricity and water supply for all.
- Crackdown on Radical Elements: The rise of illegal colonies and unchecked religious radicalization under AAP’s watch created law and order issues. BJP must ensure strict policing and zero tolerance for communal tension.
For the last 10 years, both the AAP and BJP had excuses in Delhi's governance. Turf-wars, police, LG, blame-shifting, finger-pointing.
The BJP has no excuses now.

Delhi has placed its trust in the BJP after 27 years. The last BJP CM was Late Shrimati Sushma Swaraj in 1998. The saffron wave has returned to the national capital, but now the real test begins. Can BJP deliver? If it succeeds, Delhi will never look back. However, if it fails, the cycle of political deception will continue for the voters.
The choice is now in BJP’s hands – to transform the capital, or to become yet another political party that disappointed Delhiites.
