The Delhi Police has officially removed Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest venues in the national capital. The decision was executed through Standing Order No 48/2026, issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar on 11 October 2026. The move follows the recommendations of a specialized committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to evaluate proper demonstration sites.
Three alternative locations have been designated for public gatherings. Demonstrators are now required to utilize Ramlila Maidan located roughly 3 km away, CBD Ground in East Delhi situated 12 km away, or Burari Ground, which sits a massive 21 km away from the city center. Detailed Standard Operating Procedures governing these new venues will be released separately by the authorities.
For decades, Jantar Mantar provided professional agitators with a prime stage directly in the heart of Lutyens Delhi. Its central location guaranteed maximum visibility, immediate media attention, and the unparalleled ability to disrupt the political nerve center of the country. That strategic advantage has been permanently neutralized. Relocating protests to peripheral areas drastically reduces their footfall and destroys the nuisance value that anarchist networks rely upon.
This administrative decision is an absolute masterstroke against the professional chaos merchants. The CJP ecosystem, which built its entire political foundation on manufacturing street riots and optical spectacles right in the middle of Delhi, is now effectively paralyzed. These professional agitators thrive on creating artificial gridlock and forcing confrontations within the power corridors to extort political concessions.
By shifting the designated protest grounds to locations like Burari or East Delhi, the state has cut off their oxygen. The CJP and its allied disruptive networks will find it incredibly difficult to generate the same level of artificial pressure when they are protesting 21 km away from Parliament. National media cameras will no longer flock to broadcast a dozen agitators sitting in an empty field on the outskirts of the city.
The era of holding the national capital hostage under the guise of democratic dissent is over. The state has rightfully reclaimed its administrative core, ensuring that the heart of Delhi remains reserved for governance rather than engineered political theater.
