On February 13, a horrifying attack occurred in Delhi’s Seemapuri area. Armed attackers ambushed Ex-Muslim activist Saleem Wastik, stabbed him multiple times, and left him bleeding. Currently, he is recovering from severe injuries in a local hospital.
Saleem committed the ultimate “crime” in the eyes of radical extremists. First, he actively renounced Islam. Next, he publicly exposed its violent realities. Finally, he proudly embraced Sanatan Dharma through his Ghar Wapsi.

The Digital Terror: Jihadis Doxxing Him
This physical assault certainly did not happen randomly. Before the brutal February 13 attack in East Delhi, a highly coordinated digital terror network targeted him. Radical jihadis doxxing him online actively laid the groundwork for this assassination attempt. For instance, specific radical accounts maliciously published his exact Seemapuri home address on social media. Furthermore, they shared his personal photos and openly branded him a “murtad” or apostate. Additionally, other radical users publicly called him a traitor who deserved divine punishment. Ultimately, this online mob weaponized social media to incite a physical hit squad. They deliberately transformed digital hatred into real-world bloodshed.
The Direct Quranic Teachings
Many apologists falsely claim that extremists simply misunderstand Islam. However, the violent teachings come directly from the Quran itself. The Islamic holy book explicitly outlines the deadly punishment for leaving the faith. For example, Surah Al-Ahzab (Chapter 33, Verse 61) leaves absolutely no room for a peaceful interpretation. Consequently, local clerics frequently issue fatwas based entirely on these exact scriptures. Global cases involving persecuted figures like Salman Rushdie highlight this exact same scriptural mandate. Therefore, radicals do not invent these violent rules out of thin air. They simply read their book and execute its orders.

The Doctrine of Death in Action
The Quran directly commands that apostates deserve severe condemnation. The text explicitly states that if they persist, true believers must seize them and kill them relentlessly wherever they are found. Therefore, the men who attacked Saleem Wastik were not acting out of sudden anger. Police identified the attackers as Mohammad Zubair, Mohammad Aslam, and a minor. Instead of random violence, they directly followed the clear, literal commands written in their primary religious text. They deliberately ambushed him outside his residence, shouted religious slogans, and stabbed him five times. To these attackers, hunting an apostate is never a crime. It is a sacred, mandated religious duty.
Hadiths and the Apostasy Law
Furthermore, Islamic Hadiths heavily reinforce this brutal mandate. Sahih Bukhari is widely considered the most trusted and authentic collection of teachings in Sunni Islam. In Sahih Bukhari (9:84:57), the command regarding apostates is absolute and unforgiving: “Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” Consequently, historical Islamic scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah openly endorse execution for murtads. Modern fatwas from institutions like Al-Azhar also support this deadly punishment. They view leaving the faith as high treason against the entire community. Radicals constantly use these exact, undisputed verses to justify brutal violence against anyone who dares to leave the fold.
The Hypocrisy Exposed
Ultimately, this horrific incident exposes a very dark truth. Radicals constantly demand tolerance, free speech, and minority rights in democratic nations like India. Yet, their own texts explicitly preach death and relentless violence for dissent. Shockingly, global reports from Pew Research confirm this widespread extremist mindset. Their data shows that 84% of Muslims in Pakistan and 76% in Egypt actively support the death penalty for those who leave Islam. Until society openly addresses these violent Quranic verses, no reformer or Ex-Muslim is truly safe. The government must ruthlessly protect those who choose Sanatan Dharma through Ghar Wapsi. They must completely dismantle the radical digital and physical ecosystem that preaches this violence.
