Modi 3.0 chose Deepika Padukone as its first-ever Mental Health Ambassador. The actress is known for her WOKE “My Choice” monologues and JNU photo-ops for “Tukde-Tukde” gang! The nation is left wondering how this actress qualifies for this “honor”! Because when you think of Deepika Padukone, you obviously think of designer depression, airport looks, and glossy Instagram posts with hashtags like #HealingJourney. Why couldn’t a noted mental health professional get the tag? Does her WOKE NGO grant her access to these corridors of power?
Deepika Padukone – When Performance Meets Policy
Let’s be honest — Deepika Padukone is not the sane choice for a “mental health” ambassador! But her appointment is not the only problem. The problem is not just her personal “record”. Instead of experienced psychiatrists, trauma specialists, or grassroots healers who’ve dedicated decades to real work, we have a film star whose “mental health journey” began and ended with a “heartbreak” interview.
Her foundation, The Live Love Laugh, has indeed worked on awareness campaigns – but can we really ignore the irony?
A nation fighting suicide, rural anxiety, and pandemic trauma decided to outsource its mental health narrative to Bollywood’s most brand-conscious personality. Her WOKE feminism leads her to state Bindi is a choice, while she gladly wears a Hijab for Abu Dhabi when she gets paid for it!
Her Wokeist activism is not her first instance of misguiding young Bharat. Remember when the LeLi ecosystem applauded her for “bravely” standing in solidarity with the JNU’s “Tukde-Tukde” protestors, who spread misinformation on CAA and NRC in 2020? Well, the reality was that her “symbolic act” was a PR visit during the promotion of her film Chhapaak.
The woman’s tolerance for anti-national voices and toxic Wokeism makes her a non-ideal candidate as an ambassador for anything!
Deepika – Curious Case of Selective Liberation
Once upon a time, Deepika Padukone put a hit job on the social values of India, “To wear a Bindi or not — my choice.” She became the face of “My Choice,” a campaign that redefined feminism as a fashion statement rather than a social responsibility. Fast forward to 2024, the same voice that framed the Bindi as oppression was seen promoting Abu Dhabi tourism – in a Hijab.
Suddenly, for Deepika Padukone’s “My Choice” became “Their Cheque.”
But the actress went on to contradict her own stance, she says women cannot be successful without a man’s backing!! Thus, when Deepika Padukone weaponizes Hindu Dharma symbols as “patriarchy,” more often than not, it’s a convenient form of Woke Activism.
Deepika’s kind of double standard thrives in the global woke market, where cultural identity and public voice are auctioned to the highest bidder.
When the Woke Meet the Vote
What makes this entire episode more baffling is the BJP-led government’s decision itself. They chose a woman who is a public supporter of Rahul Gandhi and is a prominent politically performative face to be a face for the national cause.
Where are India’s leading psychiatrists, the mental health professionals who work in silence to reduce stigma in rural India, among school children, and among soldiers returning from conflict zones?
Their absence from such national platforms speaks volumes about what matters more in 2025 — visibility over vision. If the Ministry’s goal was to spark awareness, congratulations. Everyone is talking – just not about mental health, but about Deepika Padukone.
The Irony Writes Itself
Let’s face it. India is a country of paradoxes. We have people who said they would leave Bharat if Modi became PM, yet today they receive Bharat Ratna for their work!! Hence, Deepika Padukone as the voice of mental health is a pinnacle of mockery of the social issue.
If this trend continues, we might soon see a whole line-up of ambassadors:
- Umar Khalid for National Unity,
- Arvind Kejriwal for Anti-Corruption Awareness,
- Rahul Gandhi for Logical Thinking,
- and Deepika Padukone for… well, whatever she’s trending for next week.
Until then, the mind of India – much like its politics – will keep oscillating between performance and policy. Unfortunately, substance seems to have gone out of fashion.
