Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V K Birdhi, hailed the operation as a significant triumph for security forces. Dar, known for orchestrating numerous militant attacks, especially in Srinagar, was the mastermind behind a series of heinous crimes, including the targeted killings of police personnel and civilians dating back to 2021. His elimination marks a crucial victory in the fight against terrorism in the region.

Hailing from Redwani, Kulgam, Dar had been evading authorities for three years before joining TRF, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Redwani based on intelligence regarding terrorist presence, culminating in the encounter that lasted through Tuesday, May 7.

Security officials categorize Dar as an ‘A’ category terrorist, indicating the gravity of his activities and his threat level. Meanwhile, security operations have been intensified in Poonch and Rajouri districts following the recent attack on an IAF convoy, resulting in the tragic loss of Corporal Vicky Pahade’s life.

The Resistance Front, emerging post the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, has been identified as a deadly offshoot of LeT. Founded by Sheikh Sajjad Gul and Muhammad Abbas Sheikh, TRF has become a menacing force in Kashmir militancy, carrying out numerous attacks targeting security forces, politicians, activists, and civilians.

The elimination of Dar is another step closer to setting in peace in Kashmir!
