Indiaโ€™s Successful Test Firing of Agni Prime Missile !

Recently, India successfully test fired the new-generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile โ€˜Agni Prime.โ€™ It was launched on Wednesday at around 7 PM from Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

On the successful launch of โ€œAgni Primeโ€, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Congratulated the DRDO and the armed forces. He said that the successful launch and induction of the missile will be an โ€œexcellent force multiplierโ€ for the armed forces.

All About Agni Prime-

  • Itโ€™s a nuclear capable and an advanced version of Agni class of missiles also known as โ€œAgni-Pโ€
  • It is solid propellant fuelled and two stage surface to surface missile with a range of 1000-2000 Kms
  • Agni Prime is the smallest and the lightest when compared to previous missiles. Itโ€™s at least 50 percent lighter than the earlier Agni 3 missile.
  • Then being a canisterised missile it can be easily transported via roadway and railways. It can also be stored for a longer duration of time thereby reducing time in preparation and launch.
  • The missile can be launched in Salvo Mode and uses cold launch mechanism
  • Moreover, it has new propulsion systems and composite rocket motor casings powered with an advanced navigation system.

In future, Agni Prime will gradually replace the earlier Agni 1, 2,3 and Prithvi 2 ballistic missiles. Overall, by successfully developing and deploying the Agni-Prime ballistic missile, India has taken a significant stride towards bolstering its defense capabilities.
