She stated,

Ek bat yaad rakhna, BJP ko madad mat karna, BJP ko agar tum log madad karoge koi to Allah ki kasam aap logo ko koi mafi nhi karega hum to mafi nhi karenge.”

These statements have been provocative. She further went ahead and said,

“Jo Kafir hain, woh darte hain, Jo ladte hain, woh jeet te hain.”

The Use of the Term ‘Kafir’:

One of the most controversial aspects of Mamata Banerjee’s speech is her use of the term ‘Kafir.’ This term is a derogatory expression used by Islamists to refer to non-believers, polytheists, and idol worshippers. In May 2022, a video of Mamata Banerjee addressing a crowd on Eid went viral, where she appeared to use the term ‘Kafir’. She declared,

“We are not scared. We are not cowards. We are not ‘Kafir’. We fight. We know how to fight. We will fight against them. We will finish them.”

This prior incident has fueled ongoing discussions about Mamata Banerjee’s language choices and their potential impact on communal harmony.

Language Controversies:

Mamata Banerjee has a track record of making controversial statements. It is exemplified by her use of the slogan “Khela Hobe” during state elections. She coincidentally echoed a phrase associated with Direct Action Day.

Her recent use of the term ‘Kafir’ in relation to the BJP has raised concerns. There will be potential repercussions of such language!
