Arvind Kejriwal’s Keys Conundrum: PWD Awaits Handover

The former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal finds himself embroiled in another controversy surrounding his official residence. In a video shoot, Kejriwal was seen vacating his official residence with Sunita Kejriwal symbolically handing over the keys to a PWD officer. However, in a dramatic twist, the PWD claims that Kejriwal did not hand over the keys to them, post the photo-op. In fact the PWD department sent a letter to the Kejriwal asking him to hand over the keys of the official residence.

PWD Writes…

The letter dated October 6th 2024, addresses Mr Pravesh Ranjan Jha, who is the Special Secretary to the CMO. It states that earlier they handed over the keys of the house at 6, Flag Staff Road. However, they then took back the keys from them after some time. It adds that Kejriwal is yet to be hand over these keys for them to complete the process. The letter also mentions that even after the officials visited the residence, they did not hand the keys over to them.

Highlighting the urgency of it, the letter states that there are some vigilance cases related to the construction of the bungalow. Hence, it is necessary for them to inspect the house and take note of the inventories before allocating it to someone else.

PWD writes that the delay is not only a hinderance in their routine procedure but it is also preventing the allotment of the house to the current CM of Delhi Atishi. It states, “Prompt transfer is required to ensure that the new CM can move in without unnecessary delay.”

Towards the end of the letter the PWD asks for an immediate action to speed up the transfer process.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva took a dig at Kejriwal. He said, “The symbol of Arvind Kejriwal’s corruption ‘Sheesh Mahal’ was never vacated. We all saw the drama that day when Arvind Kejriwal was leaving holding hands with his family. As per the government rules, that Sheesh Mahal residence was not vacated and it is still occupied by Arvind Kejriwal till date.”
