Kapil Sibal’s Shameless Distortion of Assam’s Harrowing History

Must Read

In a recent legal discourse in the Supreme Court, Kapil Sibal made a controversial assertion. Attempting to justify the presence of illegal immigrants, from Bangladesh and Myanmar, in Assam he tried to present his distorted understanding of Assam’s historical past by calling it a part of the Burmese Kingdom.

Sibal’s claim overlooks a crucial period of brutality in Assam’s history when it suffered the Burmese rule from 1821-1825. Was this short-term annexation of the Ahom Kingdom termed as being a part of the Burmese Kingdom???! Why is Mr. Sibal going out of his way to justify the presence of illegal immigrants in India? Well, it is all part of his version of ‘The Great Replacement Theory of Bharat’.

Ahom Kingdom and the Burmese Occupation

Assam’s mighty Ahom Kingdom was a centuries-old powerful dynasty. The kingdom faced many invasions from the Burmese Kingdom of the Konbaung Dynasty. The first time the Burmese occupied a part of Ahom’s land was in 1765. However, the invading Burmese force was driven out in 1769. But, this Brahmaputra Valley kingdom again suffered through a traumatic occupation by the Burmese forces in 1821.

The two powers collided in the land of modern Assam from 1817 to 1826. The Ahoms lost and had to flee to British territories in 1821. Then began Assam’s five brutal years of violent occupation. This period marks massacres, violent suppression, and the suffering of the people of Brahmaputra Valley at the hands of the Burmese invaders.

Contrary to Kapil Sibal’s claim, Assam’s history is not one of unification and harmony under Burmese rule. The Ahom Kingdom, renowned for its resilience, faced repeated Burmese invasions and successfully repelled them multiple times before succumbing to the Burmese might in 1821.

Historical records indicate that the Ahom Kings faced at least four major invasions between 1817 and 1824, each met with fierce resistance.

Burmese Occupation and the British Intervention

During the Burmese rule, Assam witnessed widespread atrocities. Historical accounts detail the harrowing experiences of the people of Assam, with estimates suggesting that thousands lost their lives during the occupation. The brutal suppression included forced labor, displacement, and cultural subjugation.

The magnitude of suffering during the Burmese occupation cannot be overstated. The culture and society of the Brahmaputra Valley, which had flourished for centuries, faced desolation. The society of the Brahmaputra Valley was brutally dismantled under the Burmese rule. The repercussions of this period of darkness would leave scars on Assam’s history for generations to come.

Finally, a treaty was reached between the Ahom Kings and the British. Thereafter, the British intervention resulted in the First Anglo-Burmese War. It culminated in the Treaty of Yandaboo of 1826, which marked the end of this war and the cessation of Assam from the Burmese Kingdom to the British.

Kapil Sibal’s Version of ‘The Great Replacement Theory of Bharat’

Equating Assam’s historical struggle to Burmese invasions is an oversimplification and subjective representation of history. In fact, it seems like Kapil Sibal has invented his version of ‘The Great Replacement Theory of Bharat’! The ‘toolkit’ gang loves to deny Bharat and its people the right to pride. Such is the case of Bharat’s Assam! They are trying to negate the Ahom Kingdom’s resistance in trying to plead for illegal immigrants in Assam.

The ‘toolkit’ gang is busy trying to change the demography in nations all over the world. The EU’s ‘Open Borders’ and the USA’s migration issues are all the result of this banking lobby’s efforts to control land, resources, and power by incorporating a demographic shift in their favor.

Currently, India is also being subject to ‘The Great Replacement Theory of Bharat’! Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are being allowed to illegally settle in Indian states to ensure the ‘toolkit’ political puppets enjoy their illegal voting benefits! West Bengal’s dire situation in every election proves this point. Recently, TMC leaders were caught on camera telling illegal immigrants to contact their representatives to get an Indian Aadhar Card and Voter ID. Why? To ensure TMC’s political victory in the 2024 general elections!

Conclusion

Kapil Sibal’s remarks also align with this twisted ideology and practice of TMC. By deliberately equating the invasions of Assam to it being a part of the Burmese Kingdom, he is justifying the demographic shift that is being encouraged in the region. Kapil Sibal should remember that Assam’s past is marked by the resilience of the people of the Ahom Kingdom and their valiant struggle against the Burmese invaders. Thus, Kapil Sibal’s deliberate oversimplification and misrepresentation of history shows his low regard for the people of Assam! Moreover, it shows his desperation to justify ‘The Great Replacement Theory of Bharat’ and protect illegal immigrants in India!
