In a joint operation on 9th of May 2023, the Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Hyderabad police arrested a total of 16 people for suspected links with Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT). 11 suspects were nabbed in Madhya Pradesh while 5 were arrested from Hyderabad. The police claim to have busted an entire module of the HuT through these arrests. The officials confiscated anti-national documents, spurious electronic equipment, and radical Islamic literature from these individuals.
What is Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT)?
Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international Islamist movement. The movement calls for the unification of all Muslim countries under a single caliphate. Once the caliphate is established, the HuT believes that they will expand its rule into non-Muslim areas through invitation and through Military Jihad. The outfit usually appeals to the vulnerable and gullible Muslim youth of Central Asia and Western Europe.
Acts of violence in several countries are linked to the members of this radical Islamist group. The HuT is banned by many non-Muslim nations. Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Germany, Russia, and Turkey have strictly imposed bans on HuT. Surprisingly, all Arab nations; except Lebanon, Yemen and the UAE; also ban the outfit for its extremist ideology and anti-national activities.
In India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) asserts that the outfit identifies susceptible non-Muslims and influences them to convert to Islam. They strategically brainwash the malleable youths with provocative speeches and lectures. The organization’s final intention to ferment terrorism and wage war against the country from within.
Dark Truth of Conversion Activities revealed by the Recent Arrests
Of the 11 people arrested from Madhya Pradesh there was a gym trainer, a software engineer, and a teacher. One of the 16 arrested individuals was a professor at the Deccan College of Medical Sciences’ Biotechnical Department. AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi is the current owner of this college.
These individuals belong to the educated and well-to-do middle class of India. However, 8 of 11 individuals had recently converted to Islam.
Some of these converted Muslims had Hindu spouses. They forced their Hindu wives to convert to Islam upon accepting the faith themselves.
Why would a Hindu convert to Islam?
The question walks the tightrope of misogyny and bigotry along with belief and faith in the Hindu religious practices. The Sanatana Dharma from which Hinduism draws strength and roots, is easily vilified by disbelievers. It is difficult for the modern Hindu to understand the abstract sense of consciousness that is the underlying foundation of the Sanatana Dharma. The material world or ‘maya’ conveniently pulls middle-class Hindus into the very defined world of Abrahamic Religions.
However, sometimes the educated Hindu is a misguided youth who craves a sense of purpose that is currently lacking in his own religion. Sometimes oppression, greed, and poverty also play a big role. The appeasement strategy of the Indian government has given Islam a mystical power in the eyes of a common Hindu. Thus, the literate Hindu fails to apply his education to overcome doubt and explore their religion of birth. Their simplicity is often used against them by conversion zealots.
Modern Hindus should learn a lesson from the recent arrests. These arrests expose the dark truth of conversion tactics applied to the Hindus. The backstories of these converted Muslims deface the underlying socio-religious politics of Islamists; thereby, exposing the true face of Islam.
