Incumbent Chief Minister Eknath Shinde thanked voters and party workers for their support and emphasized collective decision-making on the next Chief Minister. “Let the final results come in. Then, in the same way as we fought elections together, all three parties will sit together and decide on the CM,” he said. Celebrations erupted at Shinde’s residence in Thane. Shiv Sena workers and his son, MP Shrikant Shinde, cheered and marked the victory with enthusiasm.

A Unified Alliance

Shinde highlighted the unity within the Mahayuti alliance, and BJP leader Vikas Pathak reinforced this sentiment. Pathak praised the BJP’s performance, saying, “The BJP has crossed 100 seats on its strength, and a Mahayuti Chief Minister will take office.” He acknowledged the anticipation within each party regarding the CM position and confirmed that senior leaders will make the final decision after discussions.

In Baramati, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar celebrated his commanding lead of over 15,000 votes. Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare joined him to commemorate the NCP’s contribution to the alliance’s success.

Opposition Faces Setbacks Against Mahayuti

Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) suffered significant defeats. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate admitted the results did not meet their expectations. “We could have done better,” she said, signaling the need for introspection within her party. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut dismissed the results. He claimed they did not reflect Maharashtra’s true public opinion. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla countered Raut’s comments, asserting, “In Maharashtra, we worked for the poor, empowered women, and uplifted farmers. The people recognized our efforts and delivered this mandate.”

A Decisive Mandate for Mahayuti

The Mahayuti’s victory demonstrates strong support from the Hindus, solidifying its political dominance in Maharashtra. Party offices across the state buzzed with celebrations as leaders and workers anticipated the next steps. Devendra Fadnavis and other senior leaders from the BJP prepared to join the discussions and festivities.

Maharashtra now stands on the brink of significant change. The Mahayuti alliance has received the people’s trust to lead. The leaders will soon finalise the team that will shape the state’s political and developmental future.
