Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav seems to have suffered a great loss thanks to Mahakumbh 2025 at Prayagraj. A video circulating on social media shows Akhilesh Yadav claiming that the Triveni Sangam Nose belongs to Akbar! Additionally, he makes a bizarre comment about how this Kumbh has taught people to be “fully covered” during their holy dip. In another video, he demands an extension of Kumbh’s duration. All of this has left many wondering—was he there for devotion, or was this just another round of political theatrics?
Akhilesh Yadav and the Forgotten Sacred Banyan Tree of Triveni Sangam
"Sangam Nose Point at Mahakumbh belonged to Akbar" – Akhilesh Yadav.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Waqf Board claims it next… pic.twitter.com/JbDA4HbKaZ

One of the most sacred sites at the Triveni Sangam is the Akshayavat—The Eternal Banyan Tree. Legends say this tree has survived the test of time, enduring multiple invasions, calamities, and historical changes. Akshayavat is mentioned in both the Mahabharata and Ramayana. It is believed that Bhagwan Rama, Sita, and Lakshman rested under this tree for three days during their exile. In Dwapar Yuga, the Pandavas found refuge under its protection. Consequently, the tree became home to many small Hindu temples.
However, Akbar understood the importance of this tree. He designed his fort in Prayagraj to encompass the Akshayavat, restricting Hindu access to their place of worship.
As a result, a branch of Akshayavat gave rise to the Patalpuri Akshayavat. Devotees believe that the millennia-old tree’s energy continues to power the Patalpuri Banyan Tree, making it a conduit of the original Akshayavat’s spiritual force. Most devotees offer prayers at the Patalpuri Akshayavat temple as a mark of respect to the sacred Saraswati Strota at the Sangam.
Now, how does Akhilesh Yadav refer to this ancient, revered tree in a recent interview? He suggests that the Patalpuri Akshayavat be handed over to the Akbar Kila complex! This blatant disregard for Hindu rituals linked to Akshayavat, which remains enclosed within the Mughal fort, exposes his deep contempt for all things related to Hindu Dharma and the Sanatan civilization. His remarks demean this symbol of Sanatana Dharma’s resilience.
Akhilesh Yadav the ‘Religious Reformer’? Demanding an Extension for Kumbh
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav says, "DURATION of the #MahaKumbh2025 should be EXTENDED so that old people can take a holy dip"
Is he naturally born like "THIS" or has done special couse?😂😂
Anyway, how can HE know about Hindu Traditions & Panchang? pic.twitter.com/84NFd7Z3Ij

After taking his holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, Akhilesh Yadav urged the government to extend the festival’s duration. His reasoning? He claims that elderly and underprivileged devotees struggle to participate due to the vast crowds, long walking distances, and limited facilities.
Akhilesh Yadav is calling the 'Maha Kumbh after 144 years' a government propaganda and a lie. Everytime these INDI people open their mouth..😠😠@yadavakhilesh #MahaKumbh2025 pic.twitter.com/jK8h4lttx4

At first glance, this seems like a noble request. However, does it have anything to do with Hindu welfare and Sanatani traditions?
In reality, his demand contradicts the very essence of the festival. The Mahakumbh is not a political event that can be adjusted at will. It follows ancient Jyotish Vidya and Sanatani knowledge of Astronomy. They determine the timing based on specific cosmic alignments. Does Akhilesh Yadav believe that sacred Hindu festivals can be altered for human convenience? Is he ignorant of the cosmic significance of Mahakumbh?
Why is the Kumbha Mela held once every 12 years at a place?
After six Melas in 72 years, why is the seventh one held after 11 years, giving us seven Melas in 83 years (not 84)?
How is this math similar to the math of adding leap days to a year?#Kumbh #KumbhMela #Kumbha

During his tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yadav has repeatedly been accused of undermining Hindu festivals while prioritizing “secular” appeasement politics. Now, his sudden concern for Kumbh and its devotees seems more like a last-minute political gimmick rather than a genuine commitment to Hindu traditions.
Spiritual Awakening or Political Posturing? The Curious Case of ‘Peace and Modesty’
Akhilesh is the peak example of "khaane ke daant alag, aur dikhaane ke alag"
Khaane ke liye – People go to Kumbh to wash sin
Dikhaane ke liye – Went to Kumbh 😂 pic.twitter.com/GMNd5SFafs

After completing 11 dips in the holy waters (as he proudly declared), Akhilesh Yadav shared his biggest realization—people should be “fully covered” while taking their Kumbh bath.
This remark was seen as an indirect jibe at the public mockery of his candid Mahakumbh photographs.
Social media had a field day, as images of Akhilesh Yadav looking noticeably out of shape circulated widely. Many users ridiculed how the Samajwadi Party’s Supremo struggled to match the fitness and discipline of PM Modi or CM Yogi Adityanath.

For years, the Samajwadi Party has tried to paint Akhilesh as a physically fit and charismatic leader. However, reality hit harder than the cold Ganga waters. And suddenly, his Kumbh discourse shifted from spirituality to “proper dressing during rituals.”
Perhaps the real reason behind this ‘modesty lecture’ was his bruised ego. After all, the body shaming wouldn’t have happened if his party hadn’t first attempted to portray him as a stronger alternative to BJP leaders.
A ‘Holy’ Political Move or Just Another PR Stunt?

Akhilesh Yadav’s visit to Mahakumbh 2025 has raised serious questions. Was this a genuine spiritual transformation, or was it just another desperate PR stunt to appeal to Hindu voters before the elections?
Akhilesh Yadav: "BJP govt is lying about Kumbh numbers. 60 Crore pilgrims took the holy dip, while the govt reports 50 Cr." 😂
~ First, the opposition questions govt figures, now Akhilesh inflates them to make #MahaKumbh an even bigger success! pic.twitter.com/35s8zfhdSZ

His demand for an extension of Mahakumbh, his awkward attempts at religious wisdom, and his comments on Akshayavat all paint the picture of a leader struggling to stay relevant. However, no matter how many times he dips in the Sangam, political convenience cannot replace true faith.
Akhilesh Yadav repeatedly tries to undermine the grandeur of Mahakumbh 2025 under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.
But the people of India have a long memory. His remarks about extending Kumbh, his disdain for Akshayavat, and his fragile response to online criticism expose his true intentions. Thus, the Hindus of Bharat have spoken loud and clear through the Milkipur by-elections. The people’s mandate sends a strong message to the SP Sumpremo.
Bharat knows the difference between a genuine devotee and a political tourist.
