In a concerning escalation of recent death threats in Mumbai, police arrested 24-year-old Fatima Khan for allegedly sending a message that threatened Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s life. Mumbai Police sources traced the threat, which warned that someone would murder CM Adityanath “like Baba Siddique” if he did not resign within ten days, to Khan’s phone number. Authorities noted that Khan, a Bachelor’s degree holder in Information Technology, has struggled with mental health issues. She lives in Thane with her family, and her father runs a timber business.

The investigation began after the Mumbai Traffic Police control room received the message via WhatsApp. Given the high-profile nature of the threat, police acted swiftly to identify the sender. They are examining the case to understand her potential motivations, along with any connections she might have with individuals or groups involved in other recent threats.

This threat follows a series of messages targeting prominent figures in Mumbai, including Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has faced multiple death threats, reportedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Earlier this year, a shooting occurred outside Salman Khan’s residence, prompting authorities to increase his security.

The Context of Baba Siddique’s Death

The threat message’s reference to “Baba Siddique” holds significant weight. On October 12, assailants fatally shot the former Maharashtra minister near his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for previously threatening Salman Khan over his involvement in the blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Since Baba Siddique’s tragic death, Mumbai’s security concerns have intensified, especially as threats against high-profile individuals have surged. Recently, Mumbai Police detained several people linked to these messages. These include a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur and a tattoo artist from Noida.

Police continue to investigate possible broader connections among these threats, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and other parties involved in recent criminal incidents.
