Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu pays with his dignity for propagating the Chinese agenda in the Indian Ocean. Maldives was to pay Bharat $ 400 million by the end of last year. However, it was running short of funds to pay back even its IMF loans. Despite his repeated efforts to gain relief, Maldives remains stranded in the sea of global economics.

Therefore, President Muizzu shamelessly came up with a duplicitous plea to beg Bharat for debt relief! In the grand circus of international relations, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu seems like a bad trapeze artist of diplomatic acrobatics. His series of comedic missteps with India ensures that Maldives seems to be losing its balance on the tightrope of geopolitics! Let’s unravel the hilarity of President Muizzu’s fumbling somersaults of international relations.

President Muizzu came to power using ‘India Out’ slogans and Chinese funds. However, his journey from an anti-India campaigner to a debt-relief beggar has more twists than a Bollywood potboiler. With the grace of a headless chicken, Maldives ran from pillar to post in a series of flip-flop actions leading it down the road to ruin.

The ISIS stronghold and sharia-compliant Islamic nation fell out of favor with Bharat under Muizzu’s able administration.

Firstly, President Muizzu declared India as persona non grata on Maldivian soil. Immediately after taking his oath, he broke many precedents of paying respect to Bharat as its first ally. Secondly, while diplomatic relations were unraveling faster than a Maldivian coconut vendor’s straw hat, he asked Indian defense forces to leave Maldivian soil pronto. Consequently, PM Modi began to invest in Indian islands as tourist destinations. Lakshadweep and Andaman islands were put on the list for development by PM Modi.

Additionally, Bharat began to station Indian Naval forces in more numbers on Indian islands to counter the presence of Chinese in the Indian Ocean.

Unfortunately, this was not enough to put President Muizzu in his place. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and his MPs’ last move showed they had lost all reason! They began to talk smack about Bharat, its people, and its PM. This was a ‘sudden death’ move by Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and his sycophantic gang. From the common man to the Bollywood unions, all declared to cut ties and tourism in the Maldives. #BoycottMaldives took over social media and almost ruined this nation. All of Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu’s actions and words have caused economic and political backlash to the nation. Opposition members and trade unions have publicly declared their loss of faith in the ruling party.

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu heavily banked on China to rescue him from his ‘India Out’ campaign repercussions. However, the world knows that the Chinese dragon burn its prey crisp sooner rather than later. Thus, despite the show of solidarity by the PRC, actual financial help is slow and sparse for the Maldives! Moreover, the PR campaigns by Chinese echo chambers about Maldivian tourism have failed to provide the required economic boost for the nation.

Tourism, Maldives primary source of income, is at its lowest.

Therefore, we are witnessing Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu back-peddling faster than a toddler on a tricycle.

Muizzu has forsaken his pride to beg Bharat for debt relief. Its comedic about-turn and the ability to shamelessly request help from Bharat calling it Maldives’ closest ally is worthy of a standing ovation. But amidst the laughter, Bharat must wonder: are the Maldivians the real comedians or is Bharat the unwitting audience in this farcical charade?

As the curtains fall on President Muizzu’s diplomatic slapstick, one thing is clear: Islamic nation Maldives finally knows its limits! The upcoming elections in Maldives, the slowing economy, and the loss of basic amenities have Muizzu running scared. Add the loans and debt to the pot, and President Muizzu is desperate now. While Bharat demands its dues in payback, China refuses to give Maldives a relief package. Therefore, Muizzu had to swallow his pride and honor to beg Bharat for help! This ‘India Out’ President wants Bharat to bail the Maldives out of its financial quicksand. This about-face is very satisfying to watch! Thus, let’s sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the thought of President Muizzu squirming while he begs on his knees before the might of Bharat!
