Jim Rogers, also known as the Indiana Jones in the world of finance is a renowned investor and financial commentator. Recently, he shared his views on India’s economic prospects and why he considers India as an attractive investment destination.
India- A wonderland For Investor?
Mr. Jim Rogers when asked whether he would invest in India, praised PM Modi’s economic policies. He said that PM Modi has implemented “several measures beneficial to the Indian economy.” While highlighting PM Modi’s commitment towards economic growth he said, “If he secures victory, I expect the Indian stock market to remain strong. If the Indian stock market goes down a lot then I would change my strategy and start investing in India again.”
Mr. Jim Rogers while speaking at India Today Conclave stated that India is currently in a sweet spot and that it has the potential to do even better in future. He said, “For the first time in my life, I am beginning to think that they (the Indian government) are getting it right. And maybe, things are going to change, so India’s going to be even better in the future than it is now. So if Mr. Modi does what he says he is going to do, wow, India is going to be even more astonishing than it is now.”
When asked as to what he thinks will be the impact of elections on the stock market he said, “While I don’t anticipate a major downturn before the election. But if it were to happen I would seize the opportunity and invest more. I typically invest in countries when their markets are down.”
Despite on currently holding Indian Shares, Mr. Jim Rogers advised the Indian shareholders to retain their positions. When asked on where Indians should invest to generate wealth he said, “I would not suggest that you own stocks for five years. Because If I were in India now, looking for something. I guess agriculture in India would be a fantastic investment for the next five years.”

He praised India and expressed his desire for everyone to travel there. He said, “I tell people all over the world that if you can only visit one country, it should be India. Because it’s the most exciting country for a tourist. The food, the languages, the man-made sites, the natural sites, the women. The women are always winning beauty contests. Ohh! It is a fantastic country.”
