BARC Under Siege: A “Peaceful” Fake Scientist and India ’s Nuclear Nerve

Must Read

India woke up to a chilling reminder this week. Bharat is under attack, and its most guarded scientific institutions are targets of radical “peaceful” infiltration. A man identified as Akhtar Hussain Qutbuddin Ahmed was supposedly living quietly in Mumbai’s Versova. However, he was arrested for posing as a scientist from the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC). Later, the police found in his home sent shockwaves through India’s national security establishment.

A “Peaceful” Fake Scientist with Secrets, Maps, and a Forged Identity

When Mumbai Crime Branch officers, aided by the NIA and Intelligence Bureau, raided Akhtar’s Versova flat, they expected a conman. However, they discovered a potential national threat.

Reportedly, they found fourteen highly classified maps allegedly linked to nuclear bomb designs, along with fake IDs, forged passports, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and pen drives full of sensitive data with “peaceful” Akhtar.

Each document carried the potential to compromise India’s atomic defense architecture. Not so shockingly, there is the fake BARC ID card that bore the name Ali Raza Hosseini but had “peaceful” Akhtar’s face. The forgery was so meticulously crafted that even experts initially struggled to tell it apart from a genuine one.

Officials now fear that Akhtar may have used his forged identity to access restricted BARC facilities to pass on sensitive information to foreign handlers.

What’s more disturbing is that some of the nuclear-related maps were printed at a local shop in Andheri. Thus, raising the terrifying question — how did such material reach civilian access in the first place?

A “Peaceful” History of Betrayal and Forgery

“Peaceful” Akhtar’s arrest isn’t his first brush with espionage. Investigators revealed he has been on the intelligence radar since 2004, when he was deported from Dubai for allegedly attempting to sell Indian nuclear secrets to Arab diplomats. Though not enough evidence surfaced to convict him then, he was charged with forgery and cheating.

Lokmat Times reports that in 2016, “peaceful” Akhtar resurfaced in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. This time, he was arrested under the Official Secrets Act for “waging war against the government.” Yet somehow, the “peaceful” found his way back to Mumbai, lived comfortably with his family, and managed to fool local systems again! The worst is that he did all of this while out on bail. Hence, “peaceful” Akhtar’s example isn’t just a security lapse; it’s a glaring warning of a flawed system.

Radical and anti-national “peaceful” elements continue to exploit the cracks in India’s law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and the judiciary’s coordination.

The case has been officially categorized as one of “extreme national importance.” All recovered devices: laptops, phones, and pen drives, etc., are now undergoing forensic scrutiny to uncover the digital trail. Investigators are probing whether “peaceful” Akhtar was part of a larger espionage network in India, possibly working under foreign influence to gather or sell nuclear intelligence.

But the question that hangs heavy is this — how many more “Akhtars” are walking freely among us?

If a “peaceful” with a fake BARC ID can allegedly enter the shadows of India ’s nuclear research establishment, what does that say about the loopholes in our internal security apparatus? This is not just a case of forgery – it’s a wake-up call. A reminder that national security isn’t only defended at the border – it’s also fought in the corridors of bureaucracy, intelligence networks, and local verification systems that too often miss the red flags.

How deep is rot promoted by the Fake ID system that allows infiltrators and anti-nationals safe haven within Bharat?

And who pays the ultimate price in this system of forged documents?
