Ayush Malik Returns To Sanatan Dharma

The Shamli conversion case has taken a significant turn.

Ayush Malik, who had converted to Islam and changed his name to Mohammad Ali, has now returned to Sanatan Dharma. After returning to his home on 29th June, Ayush released a video saying that he had embraced Hinduism again of his own free will.

In the video, Ayush apologised to his parents and relatives for the pain they had suffered.

“Mother, seeing your pain, I have returned to my original religion, Hindu Dharma, of my own choice. Please forgive me,” he said. He added that he now wishes to spend his life with his family.

Soon after returning home, Ayush offered prayers at the temple inside his house. He performed aarti, applied a tilak to Lord Hanuman and sought his mother’s blessings by touching her feet.

His family stated that his return to Sanatan Dharma was voluntary and made without any pressure.

The case had come to light after Ayush’s father, Shamli businessman Devraj Malik, approached the police alleging that his son had been influenced to convert to Islam and had become distant from his family. The complaint also alleged that the conversion was linked to a plan to gain control of Ayush’s property.

According to the FIR, Ayush had come into contact with gym trainer Chandni Qureshi, whom he later married. His family alleged that he was gradually influenced to convert, changed his name to Mohammad Ali and adopted Islamic practices.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case against 11 people, including Chandni Qureshi, her father Islam Qureshi and three maulanas. Chandni Qureshi and her father have since been arrested, while the investigation remains ongoing.

The case has once again highlighted concerns over coercive religious conversion and the methods used to influence vulnerable individuals. At the same time, Ayush’s return to Sanatan Dharma has brought relief to his family, who say they are grateful to have their son back home.
