On the 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort, issuing a clear and urgent warning: India’s demographic balance is under deliberate attack.
“Today, I want to alert the nation about a concern, a challenge,” he began. “Under a deliberate and well-planned conspiracy, the country’s demography is being changed, and seeds of a new crisis are being sown.”
The Prime Minister described these changes as a direct threat to the livelihoods of India’s youth, the safety of women, and the rights of tribal communities. “These infiltrators are snatching away the livelihoods of my country’s youth. These infiltrators are targeting our sisters and daughters; this will not be tolerated. And these infiltrators are misleading innocent tribal people and seizing their lands; the nation will not accept this,” he said.
National Security and Social Stability
Linking the issue to national security, PM Modi underlined the dangers posed when demographic changes occur in sensitive regions.
“When demographic change takes place, especially in border regions, it creates a threat to national security. It poses a danger to the unity, integrity, and progress of the nation, and it sows seeds of social tension,” he warned. “No country can hand itself over to infiltrators. No country in the world does this, so how can we allow it for India?”
He framed this stance as a moral duty towards India’s freedom fighters. “Our ancestors won freedom through sacrifice and struggle, and they gave us an independent India. It is our duty towards those great men not to accept such activities in our country. That will be the true tribute to them.”
The Demography Mission
In response, the Prime Minister announced a “high-powered Demography Mission”. To address the challenge “in a planned and determined manner, within a fixed timeframe”. While details of the mission are yet to be revealed. The focus appears to be on tackling illegal infiltration, preventing demographic distortions in sensitive areas, and safeguarding the socio-cultural fabric of the nation.

The acknowledgement from the Prime Minister himself is a significant assurance for Hindus and all Indians concerned about the issue; it confirms that the matter is not being ignored but is a central focus at the highest level of government.
