The crisp evening air of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, bore witness to a bizarre spectacle on the 6th of February as Rachit Kaushik, better known as Tantra Baba, the maverick founder of Sab Loktantra news portal, found himself at the center of a gripping drama. What started as an ordinary day, with Kaushik attending a family wedding, quickly spiraled into a bewildering sequence of events that left onlookers scratching their heads.
The Arrest!
Kaushik was escorting his niece from a quaint parlour to the festive wedding venue. Police intervened in the form of a menacing Scorpio vehicle. Out of this ominous vehicle emerged a Sikh man in civilian garb.
The Sikh man wasted no time in yanking open Kaushikโs car door and unceremoniously hauling him out. Before Kaushik or his bewildered entourage could decipher the situation, he found himself being whisked away in a police vehicle. This left the bystanders gaping in disbelief!
According to Kaushikโs incredulous family, the Punjab Police claimed they had a warrant for his arrest. Yet, curiously, neither Kaushik nor his kin had received any official notice prior to this dramatic intervention. The alleged basis for Kaushikโs sudden detainment? An FIR filed by one Alisha Sultan from Ludhiana, alleging sacrilegious social media posts targeting the Christian faith.
Strangely, the FIR did not name Kaushik or his news portal. It rather referenced a Twitter account, โnoconversion,โ which allegedly made derogatory remarks targeting Christian women and nuns.
Kaushikโs name was conspicuously absent from the document! It focused solely on the actions of the โnoconversionโ Twitter handle. Despite the FIRโs laser focus on the โnoconversionโ Twitter handle, Kaushikโs family speculated that his outspoken criticism of Kejriwal might have rattled some powerful cages.
