Must Read

The “Peaceful” comments regarding Abhaya, the Kolkata gang-rape victim, have unmasked the reality of their Quom. The brutal and inhumane crime against this young PG student mirrors the horrors of the Nirbhaya case. Thus, the public and the doctor community have spoken up against the state-supported cover-up against this crime against women.

Yet amidst this wave of grief, anger, and demand for justice, a disturbing phenomenon has emerged on social media. Some “Peacefuls” have taken it upon themselves to shame, mock, and dehumanize Abhaya. They do not condemn the heinous crime. They use the victim’s picture to post vile comments that reveal an insidious “peaceful” mindset. Thus, they not only diminish the dignity of the victim but also perpetuate the culture of sexual violence in Bharat. Their behavior begs the question: What is the mental condition of these “peacefuls” who derive pleasure from maligning the dead?

In a shocking display of depravity, certain social media “peacefuls” made it their mission to slander Abhaya’s memory. They trivialize the brutality of the assault, gang rape, and murder. Thereafter, rather than empathizing with the victim or calling for justice, they revel in her suffering. These “peacefuls” post degrading and objectifying comments, turning the tragic image of the victim into fodder for their twisted fantasies.

It is as if Abhaya’s identity as a Hindu makes her less deserving of respect or dignity in their eyes.

What kind of human being takes joy in the suffering caused by a brutal crime?

These individuals are not just trolls! They are representative of the deep moral and mental decay of the “Peaceful” Quom. Hence, their behavior showcases the utter disregard “peaceful” hold of Hindu women and their lives or dignity. Such lowlifes feel justified in revealing their sickening lack of empathy against a gang rape victim. Instead of helping to foster a culture of protection for women, these people actively degrade it. Consequently, they embolden predators to feel glorified in destroying human life. Thus, such “peaceful” perverts help in perpetuating the cycle of violence against women.

Social media was meant to serve as a platform for mobilizing support and justice in cases of gruesome crimes. However,  in the hands of “peacefuls,” it has become a breeding ground for depraved thoughts. It is here that these “peacefuls” find validation for their perverse behavior.

Instead of rallying to demand justice, peacefuls use social media to trivialize the victim’s pain and glorify the criminals.

This dehumanizing behavior on social media plays a significant role in normalizing such crimes. The constant objectification of women, the mockery of victims, and the victim-blaming all contribute to a culture where criminals feel emboldened. When vile comments are left unchecked, it sends a wrong message to the world. Thereby, presenting that such behavior is acceptable, even commendable in certain “peaceful” circles. Consequently, it is no wonder that many of such “peacefuls” later feel emboldened to physically commit such horrific acts in the future. They are enabled by a community that takes pleasure in the suffering of others.

Abhaya is dead, however, she is still a victim of ongoing socal media violence. These “peacefuls” insult her memory by objectifying her horrific suffering. And what is even more frightening is that these “peaceful” comments fester a culture of violent crime against women! By degrading and mocking Abhaya, they strip her of her humanity and honor in death! All the while helping the perpetrators feel exalted in their crimes.

When such despicable “peacefuls” comments are shared openly, they help cultivate an environment where “peaceful” violence against women is glorified.

These “peacefuls” are not merely bystanders in the tragedy—they are enablers.

They foster the mindset that allows such atrocities to occur and persist. Instead of making criminals feel ashamed for their actions, they take pride in dehumanizing the victims like Abhaya. Their perverse sense of superiority and righteousness in attacking a dead woman reveals a frightening level of psychological and moral decay. These “peacefuls” are the very reason that crimes against women continue unabated in our society.

The behavior of these “peacefuls” must be condemned in the strongest terms. Their actions contribute directly to the degradation of women. And their words help violence penetrate our society. Social media users must condemn these “peacefuls.” Moreover, social media platforms need to curb such toxic behavior. Bharat, as a society, needs to work to dismantle the culture of misogyny that allows these people to thrive.

But beyond that, it is essential that we shame these “peacefuls” for what they are: enablers of crime, predators in their own right, and a scourge on our society.

Bharat must hold these “peacefuls” accountable. They need to be shamed for their actions and words. Society needs to work tirelessly to create a work environment where women are protected, respected, and valued. And social media users need to mirror this environment online! Only then can India hope to put an end to the culture of violence and degradation that these “peacefuls” represent.
