Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon found herself at the center of a violent and abusive ‘peaceful’ mob attack on Saturday night. Her car, driver, and she had a face-off with a burqa-clad peacefuls. Soon one of the assailants released a video trying to win the social media battle against the actress.
However, soon the CCTV released by the actress showed a different story. On Sunday, the Mumbai Police clarified that a false complaint was filed against her with the Khar Police. The accusations of Raveena Tandon being drunk, the driver’s rash driving, and alleged assault to the ‘peacefuls’ were found to be false. During all the mayhem that social media saw, the Congress loyalists were suspiciously silent. Where is the support of CONgis for an actress who spoke in favor of Rahul Gandhi in 2012?!

The incident occurred on Saturday night when Raveena Tandon’s driver was reversing her car into the society premises. A burqa-clad family was walking in the lane where the car was reversed. This family surrounded the car and accused the driver of not checking for pedestrians. Soon a violent argument ensued.
As the altercation heated, Raveena came out to protect her driver from the ‘peaceful’ mob. She asked the driver to go inside the building premises while the actress attempted to defuse the situation. Unfortunately, her voice of peace was only met with more hostility. Consequently, the situation got worse after the driver left.
The ‘peacefuls’ escalated the situation by resorting to abusive language and false claims. The video shared by one of the family members shows a female making allegations of a bleeding nose. However, not a drop of blood or hurt was observable on her face. They also began to cry for justice for being hit by her reversing car. The video ends with visions of Raveena Tandon being jostled and pushed around by a ‘peaceful’ mob while she remains polite in the face of their aggression.

DCP Rajtilak Roshan of Zone 9, spoke to a media house and confirmed that all the allegations against Raveena Tandon and her driver were unfounded. He stated that the complainant gave a false complaint in a social media video. The CCTV footage from Raveena Tandon’s society shows that the driver was mindful when reversing the car. However, it revealed that the burqa-clad family was untouched by the vehicle when it was reversing.
Raveena Tandon and her accusers went to the Khar police station to file complaints. However, all complaints were later withdrawn due to lack of injury or just cause. Medical tests further showed that neither the actress nor her driver were drunk. Unfortunately, this incident was run as a social media trial by numbers. The ‘peacefuls’ tried to incite mob justice against the actress and failed due to proof of innocence. They also tried to make rope in social media users to put pressure on public scrutiny of the incident. However, the CCTV footage ruined their ploy.

This incident raises a poignant question: Where are the Congress supporters for Raveena Tandon in her time of need? Not a single Congress spokesperson or loyalist came forth to demand justice for Raveena Tandon. The actress was left to her own devices to explain her way through the social media trial. There were no ‘All Eyes On Raveena’ Instagram stories! Bollywood went into their bunkers leaving one of their own to fend for herself.
During the recent elections, a group of Congress supporters shared a video of Raveena Tandon where she shows her support for the CON party. Upon further investigations, it was revealed that the video was from 2012. When questioned on using an old video of the actress to garner support 12 years later, the CON party warriors stated that the video is proof that Raveen Tandon is pro-Congress! Implying that the actress still supports the CON party.

However, since 2012, Raveena has not made any political posts in support of the Congress. Furthermore, she has bravely expressed her love for Sanatana Dharma despite facing frequent criticism for it. She has even questioned dubious claims by school books regarding history. Consequently, it may seem that the actress is more centrist and leftist in her political views. Therefore, it seems that the CON party loyalists have rejected Raveena. And the message comes loud and clear when the incident does not get any support from the CON party’s knights in shining armor! The video of the ‘peaceful’ incident quickly went viral on social media very fast. It displayed how Raveena struggled against the burqa-clad mob. She can even be heard pleading with the crowd, “Don’t hit me,” as they attempt to get to her driver! The mob’s violent behavior and abusive language have sparked conversations among nationalists, who usually get branded as sanghis. Most are reliving similar experiences where ‘peacefuls’ try to muscle their way in on the sheer power of mobocracy!
Understand that Raveena chose not to escalate the incident despite being in the right. Thus, what would be the story of a common man wrongly accused by such a ‘peaceful’ mob? Thus, this incident is no longer just about Raveena Tandon. It also reflects a disturbing trend of ‘peaceful’ mobs and their habit of misusing their strength in numbers. No fact checker has come forth to check their spread of misinformation! If the actress was not famous or the CCTV footage was unclear then the narrative would be against her. The police’s quick action in debunking the false claims is commendable, but it also highlights the need for stronger measures against such baseless accusations and ‘peaceful’ mob violence.
Additionally, it brings to light the way the CON party loyalists use and throw celebrities. Their selective support of public figures resembles the convenient rhetorics of their political parties.
