Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently announced that the state’s GDP is projected to reach Rs. 32 Lakh crore by March 2025. Thus positioning Uttar Pradesh as India’s fastest growing economy. Speaking at an event CM Yogi Adityanath, underlined the state’s crucial role in India’s larger economic goals. How Uttar Pradesh is contributing towards the goal of $5 Trillion economy.
He highlighted how the state under the previous government operated under the ‘One District, One Mafia’ policy. However, now the MSME’s are thriving under the ‘One district, One Product’. He emphasised how his government’s policies of zero tolerance towards crimes and industrialisation is helping the state grow. “The state’s GDP, which stood at Rs 12 lakh crore under previous govts, reached Rs 26 lakh crore in 2023-24, with target of Rs 32 lakh crore for March 2025,” he said.
CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s achievements how that all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh have GI tags. He emphasized that efforts are underway to transform the state into a logistical hub. The state is planning construct a ‘multimodal terminal’ in Varanasi and a ‘logistical hub’ in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
From Potholes To Highways..
Speaking about industrial development and investments in the state. CM Yogi recalled how when he had resumed the office in 2017, the investments were in a grim state. However, now Uttar Pradesh is setting benchmarks in investments. He cited the global investors summit in which the state attracted investments worth Rs 40 lakh crore. This was a significant leap from the previous benchmark of Rs. 20,000 crore. He underscored how these investments are paving way to employment opportunities for 1.5 crore people.
CM Yogi said, “UP, once known for potholed roads, now boasts of some of the best highways in the country. Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, the under-construction Ganga Expressway, India’s first waterway between Varanasi and Haldia, and Metro rail in six cities are examples of infrastructure development.”
Highlighting state’s achievements in exports he said, “Moradabad now exports goods worth Rs 16,000 crore, while Bhadohi’s carpet industry reached Rs 8,000 crore in exports. UP’s MSME sector and skilled workforce are fundamental to attracting large-scale investments. PM Narendra Modi’s Vishwakarma Yojana and ODOP scheme are also generating employment alongside significant investments.” Lastly, he expressed his confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth and declared it as the fastest emerging economy in the country.
