Fatawa Alamgiri Vol 2 Book 1 - Kitab Ul Haz

Al-Fatawa al-'Alamgiriyya or Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya is a 17th-century sharia based compilation by the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb on statecraft, general ethics, military strategy, economic policy, justice and punishment. This book served as the law and principal regulating body for the Mughal Empire, during the reign of Muhammad Muhiuddin Aurangzeb Alamgir. The second edition, i.e. Kitab Ul Haz, covers various personal and social and religious routines which are to be followed by devout Muslims under Shariah laws. The book details about the marriage and personal relationships harbored amongst the married couple and how one ought to behave in a certain manner and how a lady is supposed to be treated in comparison to the male. This book is a vivid description of the Islamic rules and laws and what kind of Islamic state was envisioned by the Barbaric Aurangzeb. Harjot Oberoi reinterprets and challenges the previous earlier accounts of Sikhism, Hinduism and Islam as historically given categories.
